You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham,‘ And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.’

爾為先知之子孫、承上帝與爾列祖所立之約、謂亞伯拉罕曰、天下諸族、將由爾裔獲福、

汝為先知弟子、承上帝所賜祖宗之約、謂亞伯拉罕曰、天下兆民、將藉爾裔而受福、

爾為先知之子孫、承天主與列祖所立之約、謂亞伯拉罕曰、天下萬民、將因爾子孫而獲福、

爾曹乃先知之後；天主與我祖立約、亦為爾曹。

And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham,‘ Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.’

What the prophets said was meant for you. The covenant God made with your people long ago is yours also. He said to Abraham,‘ All nations on earth will be blessed through your children.’( Genesis 22:18; 26:4)

You are the children of those prophets, and you are included in the covenant God promised to your ancestors. For God said to Abraham,‘ Through your descendants all the families on earth will be blessed.’

You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your ancestors, saying to Abraham, And all the families of the earth will be blessed through your offspring.

It is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God ordained with your fathers, saying to Abraham,‘ And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’

For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”

I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying,“ In you shall all the nations be blessed.”

They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.

“ Brothers, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to us has been sent the message of this salvation.

You found his heart faithful before you, and made with him the covenant to give to his offspring the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Jebusite, and the Girgashite. And you have kept your promise, for you are righteous.

Your offspring shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.

Now then, return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, so that he will pray for you, and you shall live. But if you do not return her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.”

which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,

God said,“ No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his offspring after him.

I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,

He remembers his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac,which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,saying,“ To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.”When they were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it,wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account,saying,“ Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!”

All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.

Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say,“ And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one,“ And to your offspring,” who is Christ.

And Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on the head of Ephraim, who was the younger, and his left hand on the head of Manasseh, crossing his hands( for Manasseh was the firstborn).And he blessed Joseph and said,“ The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life long to this day,the angel who has redeemed me from all evil, bless the boys; and in them let my name be carried on, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.”When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him, and he took his father’s hand to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.And Joseph said to his father,“ Not this way, my father; since this one is the firstborn, put your right hand on his head.”But his father refused and said,“ I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great. Nevertheless, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations.”So he blessed them that day, saying,“ By you Israel will pronounce blessings, saying,‘ God make you as Ephraim and as Manasseh.’” Thus he put Ephraim before Manasseh.

seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.

to show the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant,

And do not presume to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength!

Esau said,“ Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has cheated me these two times. He took away my birthright, and behold, now he has taken away my blessing.” Then he said,“ Have you not reserved a blessing for me?”Isaac answered and said to Esau,“ Behold, I have made him lord over you, and all his brothers I have given to him for servants, and with grain and wine I have sustained him. What then can I do for you, my son?”Esau said to his father,“ Have you but one blessing, my father? Bless me, even me also, O my father.” And Esau lifted up his voice and wept.Then Isaac his father answered and said to him:“ Behold, away from the fatness of the earth shall your dwelling be, and away from the dew of heaven on high.By your sword you shall live, and you shall serve your brother; but when you grow restless you shall break his yoke from your neck.”

For I tell you that Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God’s truthfulness, in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs,

Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people.

And they sang a new song, saying,“ Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation,

Then Jacob called his sons and said,“ Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you what shall happen to you in days to come.“ Assemble and listen, O sons of Jacob, listen to Israel your father.“ Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might, and the firstfruits of my strength, preeminent in dignity and preeminent in power.Unstable as water, you shall not have preeminence, because you went up to your father’s bed; then you defiled it— he went up to my couch!“ Simeon and Levi are brothers; weapons of violence are their swords.Let my soul come not into their council; O my glory, be not joined to their company. For in their anger they killed men, and in their willfulness they hamstrung oxen.Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce, and their wrath, for it is cruel! I will divide them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel.“ Judah, your brothers shall praise you; your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father’s sons shall bow down before you.Judah is a lion’s cub; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He stooped down; he crouched as a lion and as a lioness; who dares rouse him?The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until tribute comes to him; and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.Binding his foal to the vine and his donkey’s colt to the choice vine, he has washed his garments in wine and his vesture in the blood of grapes.His eyes are darker than wine, and his teeth whiter than milk.“ Zebulun shall dwell at the shore of the sea; he shall become a haven for ships, and his border shall be at Sidon.“ Issachar is a strong donkey, crouching between the sheepfolds.He saw that a resting place was good, and that the land was pleasant, so he bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant at forced labor.“ Dan shall judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel.Dan shall be a serpent in the way, a viper by the path, that bites the horse’s heels so that his rider falls backward.I wait for your salvation, O Lord.“ Raiders shall raid Gad, but he shall raid at their heels.“ Asher’s food shall be rich, and he shall yield royal delicacies.“ Naphtali is a doe let loose that bears beautiful fawns.“ Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a spring; his branches run over the wall.The archers bitterly attacked him, shot at him, and harassed him severely,yet his bow remained unmoved; his arms were made agile by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob( from there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel),by the God of your father who will help you, by the Almighty who will bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that crouches beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb.The blessings of your father are mighty beyond the blessings of my parents, up to the bounties of the everlasting hills. May they be on the head of Joseph, and on the brow of him who was set apart from his brothers.“ Benjamin is a ravenous wolf, in the morning devouring the prey and at evening dividing the spoil.”All these are the twelve tribes of Israel. This is what their father said to them as he blessed them, blessing each with the blessing suitable to him.Then he commanded them and said to them,“ I am to be gathered to my people; bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite,in the cave that is in the field at Machpelah, to the east of Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite to possess as a burying place.There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife. There they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife, and there I buried Leah—the field and the cave that is in it were bought from the Hittites.”When Jacob finished commanding his sons, he drew up his feet into the bed and breathed his last and was gathered to his people.

And God said to Abraham,“ As for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your offspring after you throughout their generations.This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised.
