他们问耶稣，说：“经文士们为什么说以利亚必须先来呢？”耶稣告诉他们：“以利亚确实要先来恢复万事。至于人子，经上怎么还记载说，他必然受很多苦害，并且被人拒绝呢？不过我告诉你们：其实以利亚已经来了，人们却任意对待他，正如经上指着他所写的。”

随后，天使对我说：“这些话是信实的、真实的。主——众先知之灵的神，差派了他的天使，要把这些必须快发生的事指示给他的奴仆们。”

耶稣回答说：“以利亚确实要来，并且要恢复万事。但是我告诉你们：以利亚已经来了，人们却不认他，反而任意对待他；照样，人子也将受到他们的苦害。”

他必安坐像熬炼、洁净银子之人，洁净利未的子孙，精炼他们像精炼金银那样；他们就必藉着公义向耶和华献供物。这样，犹大和耶路撒冷的供物必蒙耶和华喜悦，就像古时的日子、往昔的岁月。

要使你们想起圣先知们曾经说过的话，以及你们的使徒们所传的主、救主的命令。

因为预言从来不是藉着人的意思传来的，而是人受圣灵的感动说出从神而来的话。

所有的先知都为耶稣见证：‘所有信他的人，都将藉着他的名，罪得赦免。’”

所以，你们应当悔改，应当回转，使你们的罪孽被抹去，

上天哪、圣徒们、使徒们、先知们哪，你们应当因她欢喜！因为神已经向她施行审判，为你们惩罚她！”
