Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts.

A man unable to walk was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful. He had been that way since he was born. Every day someone put him near the gate. There he would beg from people going into the temple courtyards.

And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple.

As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple.

在路司得有一個人兩腳無力，老是坐着，從母胎裏就瘸腿，從來沒有走路過。

又有一個討飯的名叫拉撒路，躺在他的大門口，生着瘡；

同鄉們和那些先前常見他做要飯的就說：『這個人不是那常坐着要飯的麼？』

耶穌正走近耶利哥的時候，有一個瞎子坐在路旁要飯。

說：『哥尼流，在上帝面前、你的禱告已蒙垂聽，你的施捨已蒙記住了。

這醫病的神迹行在他身上的那個人、有四十多歲了。

哥尼流定睛看他，很覺得懼怕，就說：『是甚麼事呢，主啊？』天使對他說：『你的禱告你的施捨已經上升，在上帝面前蒙記住了。

那真的光、那照亮萬人的光、當時正到世界上來呢。他在世界上，世界藉着他而被造，而世人不認識他。他到自己的地方來，而自己的人不接納他。凡接受他的、就是信他名的人，他就給他們權利成為上帝的兒女。這種人不是由於血而生的，不是由於肉慾，也不是由於人慾，乃是由於上帝、而生的。道成了肉身，住在我們中間（我們見過他的榮光，正是個獨生者由父而來的榮光），豐豐滿滿地有恩典有「真實」。（約翰為耶穌作見證，喊着說：『這一位就是我所說到：「那在我以後來的、位在我前頭，因為他本是比我先的」』。）從他的豐滿裏我們都領受了，而且恩上加恩。因為律法是藉着摩西而頒賜；恩典與「真實」乃是藉着耶穌基督而來的。從來沒有人見過上帝；惟有在父懷裏的獨生子將他表彰出來。以下是約翰的見證：當時猶太人從耶路撒冷差遣祭司和利未人來見約翰，詰問他說：『你是誰？』約翰承認而不否認；他承認說：『我不是上帝所膏立者基督。』他們又詰問他說：『那麼、是甚麼呢？你是以利亞麼？』他說：『我不是。』『你是那位神言人麼？』他回答說：『不是。』於是他們問他們說：『你是誰？請明說，讓我們好給差我們的人回覆啊；關於你自己、你怎麼說呢？』約翰說：『我乃是在野地裏呼喊者的聲音說：「修直主的道路」，正如神言人以賽亞所說的。』那些被差遣的有些是法利賽派的人。他們詰問約翰說：『你既不是上帝所膏立者基督，又不是以利亞，也不是那位神言人，那你為甚麼施洗呢？』約翰回答他們說：『我是用水施洗的；但有一位你們不認識的、站在你們中間，就是那在我以後來的，我配不起他、去解他的鞋帶的。』這些事是在約但河外的伯大尼、約翰施洗的地方、發生的。第二天、約翰看見耶穌向他那裏走去，就說：『看哪，上帝的羊羔，除掉世人的罪的！這一位就是我所說到：「有一個人在我以後來，位在我前頭，因為他本是比我先的」。
