Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,saying,“ What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.

But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind and received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight.And they asked them, saying,“ Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”His parents answered them and said,“ We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;but by what means he now sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of age; ask him. He will speak for himself.”

So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done.For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed.

So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another,“ Whatever could this mean?”

And they were all amazed at the majesty of God. But while everyone marveled at all the things which Jesus did, He said to His disciples,

Jesus answered,“ Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.

For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
