但有一件事我要向你承認，他們所稱為異端的這道，我正是根據這道來敬拜我祖先的神的。一切律法和先知所記的，我都相信。

你們在教外人中，應當品行端正，使那些人，雖然毀謗你們是作惡的，但因為看見你們的好行為，就要在鑒察的日子頌讚神。

你們要是為基督的名受辱罵，就有福了！因為神榮耀的靈，住在你們身上。你們中間不可有人因為殺人、或偷竊、或行惡、或好管閒事而受苦。如果因為作基督徒而受苦，不要以為羞恥，倒要藉著這名字榮耀神。

西面給他們祝福，對他母親馬利亞說：“看哪！這孩子被立，要叫以色列中許多人跌倒，許多人興起，又要成為反對的目標，

但要用溫柔敬畏的心回答。當存無愧的良心，使那些誣賴你們這在基督裡有好品行的人，在毀謗你們的事上蒙羞。

又帶到裁判官面前，說：“這些人是猶太人，擾亂我們的城市，傳我們羅馬人不准接受、不准實行的規例。”

搜索不到他們，就把耶孫和幾個弟兄，拉到地方長官那裡，喊叫著說：“這些擾亂天下的人，也到這裡來了，耶孫卻收留他們。這些人都違背凱撒的法令，說另外還有一個王耶穌。”

我們看這個人就像瘟疫一樣，是煽動普天下猶太人生亂的人，又是拿撒勒派的首領。他還意圖污穢聖殿，我們就把他捉住。（有些抄本在此有以下一段：“我們想按照我們的律法審問他。7可是千夫長呂西亞來了，用武力把他從我們手中搶走，8還吩咐原告到你這裡來。”）

你們中間會有分黨結派的事，這是必然的，為的是要使那些經得起考驗的人顯明出來。

然而有幾個法利賽派的信徒站起來，說：“我們必須給外族人行割禮，吩咐他們遵守摩西的律法。”

大祭司和他的同黨撒都該人都起來，滿心忌恨，

如果他們肯作證的話，他們是早就知道，我是按著我們祖宗最嚴格的教派，過著法利賽人的生活。
