但有一件事我要向你承认，他们所称为异端的这道，我正是根据这道来敬拜我祖先的神的。一切律法和先知所记的，我都相信。

你们在教外人中，应当品行端正，使那些人，虽然毁谤你们是作恶的，但因为看见你们的好行为，就要在鉴察的日子颂赞神。

你们要是为基督的名受辱骂，就有福了！因为神荣耀的灵，住在你们身上。你们中间不可有人因为杀人、或偷窃、或行恶、或好管闲事而受苦。如果因为作基督徒而受苦，不要以为羞耻，倒要藉着这名字荣耀神。

西面给他们祝福，对他母亲马利亚说：“看哪！这孩子被立，要叫以色列中许多人跌倒，许多人兴起，又要成为反对的目标，

我们看这个人就像瘟疫一样，是煽动普天下犹太人生乱的人，又是拿撒勒派的首领。他还意图污秽圣殿，我们就把他捉住。（有些抄本在此有以下一段：“我们想按照我们的律法审问他。7可是千夫长吕西亚来了，用武力把他从我们手中抢走，8还吩咐原告到你这里来。”）

你们中间会有分党结派的事，这是必然的，为的是要使那些经得起考验的人显明出来。

然而有几个法利赛派的信徒站起来，说：“我们必须给外族人行割礼，吩咐他们遵守摩西的律法。”

大祭司和他的同党撒都该人都起来，满心忌恨，

如果他们肯作证的话，他们是早就知道，我是按着我们祖宗最严格的教派，过着法利赛人的生活。
