過了三天、保羅把那些做猶太人領袖的招集了來；他們聚攏來了，保羅就對他們說：『同人弟兄們，論到我、我並沒有作過甚麼事干犯本國的人民或我們祖宗的規矩，竟做了囚犯從耶路撒冷被送交到羅馬人手裏。

过了三天，保罗请犹太人的首领来。他们来了，就对他们说：“弟兄们，我虽没有做什么事干犯本国的百姓和我们祖宗的规条，却被锁绑，从耶路撒冷解在罗马人的手里。

Three days later he called together the local Jewish leaders. When they had assembled, Paul said to them:“ My brothers, although I have done nothing against our people or against the customs of our ancestors, I was arrested in Jerusalem and handed over to the Romans.

我們曾聽見他說這個拿撒勒人耶穌要拆毁這聖地，要改變摩西所傳給我們的規矩。』

保羅分訴說：『猶太人的律法或聖殿、或該撒、我都沒有干犯過。』

保羅說：『我站在該撒的審判臺前，應當在該撒臺前受審判；我對猶太人並沒有行過甚麼不對的事；就是大人也明明理會的。

大祭司和全長老會也可以給我作見證。從他們、我竟領了文書給在大馬色的弟兄們，遂即前往，要把在那裏的信徒也捆綁，帶到耶路撒冷來受刑。

於是千夫長走近前去，拉住他，發命令用兩條鐵鍊捆綁着；查問是甚麼人，作了甚麼事。羣眾中有的喊叫這個，有的喊叫那個。既因鬧亂而不能知道確實的情形，千夫長就發命令將保羅帶進營樓。到了臺階上，因羣眾擁擠的猛力，保羅就被士兵擁了上去。那一羣民眾跟在後面，喊着說：『除掉他！』快要被帶進營樓的時候，保羅對千夫長說：『我對千夫長說句話可以麼？』他說：『你懂希利尼話麼？那麼你莫非是這些日子以前作亂，帶領四千個暗殺的人出去、到野地去的那個埃及人麼？保羅說：『我是猶太人，是基利家的大數人，並不是無名小城的公民，求千夫長准我對民眾說話。』千夫長准許了，保羅就站在臺階兒上，向民眾擺手。大家都靜默無聲了，保羅便用希伯來土話陳述說：

總督點頭叫保羅說話，保羅就回稟說：『我知道大人多年做這一國的審判官，故此我興奮地為自己的事來分訴。因為大人有能力可以探知、從我上耶路撒冷來敬拜到現在、也不過有十二天。人們並沒有遇見我在殿裏和甚麼人辯論，或是作鼓動羣眾的事；在會堂裏沒有，在城裏也沒有。人們也不能對你證實他們如今所控告我的事。但這一點、我倒向大人承認，就是：我正是循着他們之所謂異端的這道路、這樣事奉祖宗的上帝，相信律法中和神言人們書上所記載的一切。我對上帝存着這些人自己也存着的盼望，就是：將來必有復活，不但義人的復活，而且不義之人的復活。為了這一點、我自己也勉力實行，對上帝對人、時常存着無虧的良知。

祭司長和猶太人的首領、將告保羅的事稟報他，又央求他，

保羅定睛看議院，說：『同人弟兄們，我憑極純善的良知在上帝面前做公民、直到這一天。』大祭司亞拿尼亞吩咐旁邊站着的人擊打他的嘴。於是保羅對他說：『粉飾的牆，上帝將要擊打你了！你，你坐着審判我，是按律法的，竟違背律法命令人擊打我啊！』旁邊站着的人說：『上帝的大祭司、你辱罵麼？』保羅說：『弟兄們，我不知道他是大祭司啊；當然囉，經上記着說：「不可說壞話罵你人民的官長啊。」』保羅看出他們有一部分是撒都該人，另有一部分是法利賽人，就在議院中喊着說：『同人弟兄們，我是法利賽人，是法利賽人的子孫；我受審判、是為了盼望死人之復活。』他說了這話，法利賽人和撒都該人就起了紛爭；民眾也分裂了。因為撒都該人說沒有復活，也沒有天使，沒有鬼靈；法利賽人卻三樣都承認的。於是起了大喧嚷，有幾個法利賽黨的經學士站起來力爭說：『我們看不出這個人有甚麼惡呀；萬一有鬼靈或天使對他說過話、可怎麼辦呢？』那紛爭越來越大，千夫長恐怕保羅給他們扯碎了，就命令士兵下去，將保羅從他們中間搶出來，帶進營樓。當夜，主站在保羅旁邊說：『放膽，你怎樣為了我在耶路撒冷鄭重作見證，也必須怎樣在羅馬作見證。』

我實在是從希伯來人之地被拐來的；就是在這裏、我也沒有作過甚麼、足以叫他們把我下在這監裏的。』

馬兵進了該撒利亞，把文書呈給總督，也引保羅到他面前。
