保罗说：“我此刻正站在凯撒的法庭上，这就是我应该受审的地方。你很清楚，我并没有做过什么对不起犹太人的事。

大祭司和众长老都可以为我作证。我还拿着他们写给大马士革的犹太人的信去拘捕那里的信徒，押回耶路撒冷受刑。

千夫长上前拿住保罗，命人用两条铁链把他锁起来，问他是什么人、做了什么事。人群中有人这样喊，有人那样喊，情形混乱不堪，千夫长无法辨明真相，便命人将保罗带回军营。保罗刚走上台阶，众人便凶猛地拥挤过来，士兵们只好把他举起来抬着走。众人挤在后面喊着说：“杀掉他！”士兵们抬着保罗来到军营门口，保罗问千夫长：“我可以和你讲几句话吗？”千夫长说：“你也懂希腊话吗？不久前煽动叛乱、带着四千暴徒逃到旷野去的那个埃及人是你吗？”保罗说：“我是犹太人，来自基利迦的大数，并非无名小城的人。请准许我向百姓讲几句话。”千夫长答应了，保罗就站在台阶上向众人挥手示意，他们都安静下来，保罗用希伯来话对他们说：

总督点头示意保罗可以发言，于是保罗说：“我知道大人在犹太执法多年，我很乐意在你面前为自己辩护。大人明鉴，从我上耶路撒冷礼拜至今不过十二天。这些人根本没有见过我在圣殿、会堂或城里与人争辩，聚众闹事。他们对我的指控毫无根据。但有一点我必须承认，就是我依循他们称之为异端的道事奉我们祖先的上帝，我也相信律法书和先知书的一切记载，并且我与他们在上帝面前有同样的盼望，就是义人和不义的人都要复活。因此，我一直尽力在上帝和人面前都做到问心无愧。

祭司长和犹太人的首领向他控告保罗，

保罗注视着公会的人，说：“弟兄们，我在上帝面前行事为人一向问心无愧。”大祭司亚拿尼亚一听，就命那些站在旁边的人打保罗的嘴。保罗对亚拿尼亚说：“你这伪君子，上帝要击打你！你坐在那里不是应当依法审问我吗？你怎么违法叫人打我？”站在旁边的人说：“你竟敢辱骂上帝的大祭司？”保罗说：“弟兄们，我不知道他是大祭司。我知道圣经上说，‘不可咒诅百姓的官长。’”保罗发现他们一些是法利赛人，一些是撒都该人，就在公会中高声说：“弟兄们，我是法利赛人，也是法利赛人的子孙。我因为盼望死人复活，才在这里受审！”这句话立刻引起法利赛人和撒都该人之间的争论，公会分成了两派。因为撒都该人认为没有复活，也没有天使和灵，而法利赛人认为这些都有。众人大声喧嚷，有几个法利赛派的律法教师站起来争辩说：“我们找不出这人有什么错处，也许真的有灵或天使跟他说过话。”争论越来越激烈，千夫长怕保罗会被他们扯碎了，就派人把他从人群中救出来，带回军营。当天晚上，主站在保罗身旁对他说：“要勇敢！正如你在耶路撒冷为我做了见证，你也必须在罗马为我做见证。”

我是从希伯来人那里被拐来的，无辜被囚在监。”

他们到了凯撒利亚，将公文呈交总督，把保罗交给他。
