We made slow headway for many days and had difficulty arriving off Cnidus. When the wind did not allow us to hold our course, we sailed to the lee of Crete, opposite Salmone.

大家很久沒有吃飯了，保羅就站在他們中間，說：“各位，你們本來應該聽我的話不離開克里特，就不會遭受這場損失和破壞了。

克里特人以及阿拉伯人，都聽見他們用我們的語言，講說神的大作為。”

有一個克里特本地的先知說過：“克里特人是常常說謊的，是惡獸，好吃懶作。”

我從前留你在克里特島，是要你辦好沒有辦完的事，並且照我所吩咐的，在各城設立長老。

而且這港口不適宜過冬，所以大多數人主張離開那裡，也許可以到非尼基去過冬。非尼基是克里特的一個港口，一面向西南，一面向西北。這時南風徐徐地吹來，他們以為風勢有利，就起錨沿著克里特航行。

我們又從那裡開船，因為逆風，就沿著塞浦路斯背風而行。
