主所愛的弟兄姊妹，我們應該時常為你們感謝上帝，因為上帝一開始就揀選了你們，為了使你們藉著聖靈得以聖潔，並且相信真理，從而得救。上帝藉著我們所傳的福音呼召了你們，使你們可以得到我們主耶穌基督的榮耀。

這時大家已經多日沒有進食，保羅站在他們當中說：「各位當初如果肯聽我勸，不離開克里特，就不會遭受這些損失了。現在我勸大家放心，你們無人會喪命，只是這艘船保不住了。因為昨天晚上，我所歸屬、所事奉的上帝差遣天使站在我身旁，對我說，『保羅，不用怕，你一定會站在凱撒面前，上帝也會保全所有和你同船的人。』

瑪麗亞對天使說：「這怎麼可能呢？我還是童貞女。」天使回答說：「聖靈要臨到你身上，至高者的能力要蔭庇你，所以你要生的那聖嬰必稱為上帝的兒子。

因為祂必命令祂的天使隨時隨地保護你。天使會用手托住你，不讓你的腳碰在石頭上。

凡父賜給我的人，必到我這裡來。到我這裡來的，我總不丟棄他。

這樣，你們四周其餘的民族便知道我耶和華已重建毀壞之處，重新耕種荒廢之地。我耶和華言出必行。』「主耶和華說，『我要再次答應以色列人的懇求，使他們的人口增加，多如羊群。

但那百夫長只相信船主和舵手的話，不接受保羅的勸告。

士兵們想把囚犯全殺掉，怕有人乘機游泳逃走。但百夫長為了救保羅，不准他們輕舉妄動，下令會游泳的先跳到海裡游上岸。

因為我知道我為你們安排的計劃。我的計劃不是要降禍給你們，而是要賜福給你們，使你們的未來充滿希望。這是耶和華說的。那時，你們必呼求我，向我禱告，我也必垂聽。你們尋求我，就必尋見。只要你們全心尋求我，

魔鬼又帶耶穌到耶路撒冷，讓祂站在聖殿的最高處，說：「如果你是上帝的兒子，就從這裡跳下去吧，因為聖經上說，『上帝會吩咐祂的天使保護你，他們會用手托住你，不讓你的腳碰在石頭上。』」耶穌回答說：「聖經上說，『不可試探主——你的上帝。』」
