“ But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

So they said to him,“ What should we do to you so that the sea will become calm for us?”— for the sea was becoming increasingly stormy.And he said to them,“ Pick me up and hurl me into the sea. Then the sea will become calm for you, because I know that on account of me this great storm has come upon you.”However, the men rowed desperately to return to land, but they could not, because the sea was becoming even stormier against them.Then they cried out to the Lord and said,“ We earnestly pray, O Lord, do not let us perish on account of this man’s life, and do not put innocent blood on us; for You, Lord, have done as You pleased.”

Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent adrift at sea.

Then He said to me,“ Son of man, these bones are the entire house of Israel; behold, they say,‘ Our bones are dried up and our hope has perished. We are completely cut off.’

You were tired out by the length of your road, Yet you did not say,‘ It is hopeless!’ You found renewed strength, Therefore you did not faint.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope.

Keep your feet from being bare, And your throat from thirst; But you said,‘ It is hopeless! No! For I have loved strangers, And I will walk after them.’

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Reach out with your hand toward the sky, so that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even a darkness which may be felt.”So Moses reached out with his hand toward the sky, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days.They did not see one another, nor did anyone rise from his place for three days, but all the sons of Israel had light in their dwellings.

However, the Lord hurled a great wind on the sea and there was a great storm on the sea, so that the ship was about to break up.

For He spoke and raised a stormy wind, Which lifted the waves of the sea.They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; Their soul melted away in their misery.They reeled and staggered like a drunken person, And were at their wits’ end.

He sent darkness and made it dark; And they did not rebel against His words.
