When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.

這時候，忽然湖上起了大風暴，以致波浪蓋過了船，耶穌卻睡著了。門徒們上前來叫醒他，說：「主啊，救救我們，我們沒命了！」

那時候，你們與基督無關；被排除在以色列國民之外；在那些所應許的諸約上是外人；在這世界上沒有盼望、沒有神。

「那些日子的患難一過去，『太陽就要變黑，月亮也不發光，星辰要從天上墜落，諸天的各勢力也將被震動。』

他們又問他：「我們該對你怎麼做，才能使海為我們平靜下來呢？」因為海浪越來越洶湧了。約拿就對他們說：「你們把我抬起來，拋進海中，海就會為你們平靜下來，因為我知道這場臨到你們的大風暴是因我的緣故。」然而，那些人還是拼命划槳要回到陸地，卻是不能，因為海浪越來越洶湧，衝向他們。他們就向耶和華呼求，說：「哦，耶和華啊，求你不要因這人性命的緣故使我們滅亡，不要把流無辜人血的罪歸在我們身上！因為你，耶和華啊，是你照著你的意願行了這事。」

被棍子打過三次，被石頭砸過一次，遭遇海難三次，在深海裡度過了一晝一夜；

你因路途遙遠而困乏，卻不說『沒有希望！』你找到了新生的力量，因此不疲軟。

弟兄們，關於睡了的人，我們不願意你們不明白，免得你們憂傷，就像其他那些沒有盼望的人一樣。

然而，耶和華使海上颳起大風，海上就起了大風暴，致使船幾乎要破裂。

他一吩咐，暴風就興起，揚起海洋的波濤。他們上到天空，又下到深淵，在危急中魂飛魄散。他們搖搖晃晃，東倒西歪，好像醉酒的人，他們一切的智慧都毫無用處。

他發出黑暗，使那地黑暗；誰也沒有違背他的話。
