忽然海上起了狂风，甚至船都被波涛掩盖，但耶稣却睡着了。他们走来把他叫醒，说：“主啊！救命啊！我们没命了！”

那时，你们是在基督以外，与以色列国无分，在带有应许的约上是外人，在世上没有盼望，没有神。

“那些日子的灾难刚过去：太阳就变黑了，月亮也不发光，众星从天坠落，天上的万象震动。

因为海浪越来越汹涌，他们又对他说：“我们该怎样处置你，才能叫海浪平静呢？”他回答说：“你们把我抬起来，投在海里，海浪就会平静，因为我知道，这场大风暴临到你们，是为了我的缘故。”那些人虽然破浪挣扎，要把船靠岸，却是不能，因为海浪不断汹涌扑来。他们就呼求耶和华，说：“耶和华啊！我们恳求你，不要因这人叫我们丧命；不要把无辜人的血归在我们身上，因为你耶和华是照自己所喜悦的行事。”

被棍打过三次，被石头打过一次，三次遇着船坏，在深海里飘了一昼一夜；

他对我说：“人子啊！这些骸骨就是以色列全家；他们常说：‘我们的骸骨枯干了，我们的盼望消失了；我们都灭亡了。’

你因路途遥远而困乏，却不说：“没有希望了！”因为你找着了生命的力量，所以你不觉得疲倦。

弟兄们，论到睡了的人，我们不愿意你们不知道，免得你们忧伤，像那些没有盼望的人一样。

不要使你的脚赤露，你的喉咙干渴！你却说：‘没用的！因为我爱外族人的神，我要跟从他们！’

耶和华对摩西说：“你要向天举手，使黑暗临到埃及地，这黑暗是可以触摸的。”摩西向天伸手，幽暗就临到埃及全地三天之久。三天之内，人彼此不能看见，谁也不能起来离开自己的地方；但是在所有以色列人居住的地方都有亮光。

但是耶和华在海上忽然刮起大风，于是海中狂风大作，船几乎要破裂了。

他一吩咐，狂风就刮起，海中的波浪也高扬。他们上到天上，下到深渊，他们的心因危难而惊慌。他们摇摇晃晃，东倒西歪，好像醉酒的人；他们的一切智慧都没有用了。

他命黑暗降下，使那地黑暗；他的话是不能违背的。
