忽然，湖面上狂風大作，波濤洶湧，船快要被巨浪吞沒，耶穌卻在睡覺。門徒連忙叫醒耶穌，說：「主啊，救命！我們快淹死了！」

那時，你們與基督無關，又不是以色列人，在上帝應許的諸約上是局外人，你們活在世上沒有盼望，沒有上帝。

「當災難的日子一過，『太陽變黑，月亮無光，眾星隕落，天體震動。』

那時，風浪越來越大，他們便對約拿說：「我們要怎樣處置你，才能使風浪平靜呢？」約拿對他們說：「我知道這場風暴是因我而起的，你們把我抬起來拋進海裡，風浪自然會平靜。」然而船上的人還是拚命划船，希望把船划向岸邊，可是沒有成功，因為風浪實在太大了。他們只好呼求耶和華，說：「耶和華啊，求你不要因這個人的性命而毀滅我們，不要因我們殺害無辜的人而怪罪我們，因為你耶和華按自己的旨意行事。」

被羅馬人用棍打了三次，被人用石頭打了一次，遇到船難三次，曾在大海上漂浮了一天一夜。

耶和華對我說：「人子啊，這些骸骨就是所有的以色列人，他們說，『我們骨頭枯乾，希望幻滅，徹底完了。』

雖然遙遠的路途使你們疲倦，你們卻從不放棄。你們找到了新的力量，所以沒有暈倒。

弟兄姊妹，關於安息的信徒，我不願意你們一無所知，免得你們像那些沒有盼望的人一樣悲傷。

我說，『不要因追隨假神而跑破鞋子，喉嚨乾渴。』你卻說，『不行！我愛外族的神明，一定要跟隨他們。』

耶和華對摩西說：「你向天伸杖，使埃及全境漆黑一片，那黑暗濃得甚至可以摸到。」摩西向天伸杖，埃及全境便漆黑了三天之久。埃及人彼此看不見，誰也不敢移動半步。可是，以色列人住的地方卻有光。

然而，耶和華使海面起了狂風，滔天巨浪幾乎把船打成碎片。

祂一聲令下，狂風大作，巨浪滔天。他們的船隻忽而被拋向半空，忽而落入深淵，他們嚇得面無人色，東倒西歪，如同醉漢，束手無策。

祂降下黑暗，使黑暗籠罩那裡；他們沒有違背祂的話。
