We are people also, just like you, and we are proclaiming good news to you, that you turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and everything in them.In past generations he allowed all the nations to go their own way,although he did not leave himself without a witness, since he did what is good by giving you rain from heaven and fruitful seasons and filling you with food and your hearts with joy.”Even though they said these things, they barely stopped the crowds from sacrificing to them.Some Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and when they won over the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, thinking he was dead.After the disciples gathered around him, he got up and went into the town. The next day he left with Barnabas for Derbe.After they had preached the gospel in that town and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, to Iconium, and to Antioch,

and saying,“ Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near!”

But you must return to your God. Maintain love and justice, and always put your hope in God.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, because this is right.Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise,so that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land.Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as you would Christ.Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart.Serve with a good attitude, as to the Lord and not to people,knowing that whatever good each one does, slave or free, he will receive this back from the Lord.And masters, treat your slaves the same way, without threatening them, because you know that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

“ After I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a tranceand saw him telling me,‘ Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’“ But I said,‘ Lord, they know that in synagogue after synagogue I had those who believed in you imprisoned and beaten.And when the blood of your witness Stephen was being shed, I stood there giving approval and guarding the clothes of those who killed him.’“ He said to me,‘ Go, because I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”They listened to him up to this point. Then they raised their voices, shouting,“ Wipe this man off the face of the earth! He should not be allowed to live!”

instructing his opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance leading them to the knowledge of the truth.Then they may come to their senses and escape the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

So they went out and preached that people should repent.

“ Therefore, house of Israel, I will judge each one of you according to his ways.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.“ Repent and turn from all your rebellious acts, so they will not become a sinful stumbling block to you.Throw off all the transgressions you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. Why should you die, house of Israel?For I take no pleasure in anyone’s death.” This is the declaration of the Lord GOD.“ So repent and live!

“ Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent,

For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with goodness, goodness with knowledge,knowledge with self-control, self-control with endurance, endurance with godliness,godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being useless or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, I say this and testify in the Lord: You should no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thoughts.They are darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them and because of the hardness of their hearts.They became callous and gave themselves over to promiscuity for the practice of every kind of impurity with a desire for more and more.But that is not how you came to know Christ,assuming you heard about him and were taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus,to take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires,to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth.Therefore, putting away lying, speak the truth, each one to his neighbor, because we are members of one another.Be angry and do not sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your anger,and don’t give the devil an opportunity.Let the thief no longer steal. Instead, he is to do honest work with his own hands, so that he has something to share with anyone in need.No foul language should come from your mouth, but only what is good for building up someone in need, so that it gives grace to those who hear.And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit. You were sealed by him for the day of redemption.Let all bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander be removed from you, along with all malice.And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children,and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.But sexual immorality and any impurity or greed should not even be heard of among you, as is proper for saints.Obscene and foolish talking or crude joking are not suitable, but rather giving thanks.For know and recognize this: Every sexually immoral or impure or greedy person, who is an idolater, does not have an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.Let no one deceive you with empty arguments, for God’s wrath is coming on the disobedient because of these things.Therefore, do not become their partners.For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light—for the fruit of the light consists of all goodness, righteousness, and truth—testing what is pleasing to the Lord.Don’t participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them.For it is shameful even to mention what is done by them in secret.Everything exposed by the light is made visible,for what makes everything visible is light. Therefore it is said: Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk— not as unwise people but as wise—making the most of the time, because the days are evil.So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit:speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord,giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord,because the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of the body.Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives are to submit to their husbands in everything.Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her

But the Lord said to him,“ Go, for this man is my chosen instrument to take my name to Gentiles, kings, and Israelites.

but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is removed.

From then on Jesus began to preach,“ Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

and blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they did not repent of their works.

No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as well.”

Therefore, in my judgment, we should not cause difficulties for those among the Gentiles who turn to God,

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, so that you may proclaim the praises of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.Dear friends, I urge you as strangers and exiles to abstain from sinful desires that wage war against the soul.Conduct yourselves honorably among the Gentiles, so that when they slander you as evildoers, they will observe your good works and will glorify God on the day he visits.

I testified to both Jews and Greeks about repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus.

I tell you, in the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.”

So they were watching the gates day and night intending to kill him,but his disciples took him by night and lowered him in a large basket through an opening in the wall.When he arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, since they did not believe he was a disciple.Barnabas, however, took him and brought him to the apostles and explained to them how Saul had seen the Lord on the road and that the Lord had talked to him, and how in Damascus he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus.Saul was coming and going with them in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.He conversed and debated with the Hellenistic Jews, but they tried to kill him.

Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

Older men are to be self-controlled, worthy of respect, sensible, and sound in faith, love, and endurance.In the same way, older women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not slaves to excessive drinking. They are to teach what is good,so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands and to love their children,to be self-controlled, pure, workers at home, kind, and in submission to their husbands, so that God’s word will not be slandered.In the same way, encourage the young men to be self-controlledin everything. Make yourself an example of good works with integrity and dignity in your teaching.Your message is to be sound beyond reproach, so that any opponent will be ashamed, because he doesn’t have anything bad to say about us.Slaves are to submit to their masters in everything, and to be well-pleasing, not talking backor stealing, but demonstrating utter faithfulness, so that they may adorn the teaching of God our Savior in everything.For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age,while we wait for the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

do not boast that you are better than those branches. But if you do boast— you do not sustain the root, but the root sustains you.Then you will say,“ Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.”True enough; they were broken off because of unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but beware,

Remember, then, what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. If you are not alert, I will come like a thief, and you have no idea at what hour I will come upon you.

Then the man went to the other and said the same thing.‘ I will, sir,’ he answered, but he didn’t go.Which of the two did his father’s will?” They said,“ The first.” Jesus said to them,“ Truly I tell you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you.For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you didn’t believe him. Tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; but you, when you saw it, didn’t even change your minds then and believe him.

Take words of repentance with you and return to the LORD. Say to him,“ Forgive all our iniquity and accept what is good, so that we may repay you with praise from our lips.

in order to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer for human desires, but for God’s will.For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry.They are surprised that you don’t join them in the same flood of wild living— and they slander you.They will give an account to the one who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.

I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance.

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance.But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct;for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.

But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord,“ Look, I’ll give half of my possessions to the poor, Lord. And if I have extorted anything from anyone, I’ll pay back four times as much.”“ Today salvation has come to this house,” Jesus told him,“ because he too is a son of Abraham.

Remember then how far you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

He also said to them,“ This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead the third day,and repentance for forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed in his name to all the nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as well.

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly grief produces death.

He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.

I will rescue you from your people and from the Gentiles. I am sending you to them

When they heard this they became silent. And they glorified God, saying,“ So then, God has given repentance resulting in life even to the Gentiles.”

Let’s examine and probe our ways, and turn back to the LORD.

Let the wicked one abandon his way and the sinful one his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, so he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will freely forgive.

All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD. All the families of the nations will bow down before you,

After my return, I felt regret; After I was instructed, I struck my thigh in grief. I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth.”Isn’t Ephraim a precious son to me, a delightful child? Whenever I speak against him, I certainly still think about him. Therefore, my inner being yearns for him; I will truly have compassion on him. This is the LORD’s declaration.

Paul and Barnabas boldly replied,“ It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first. Since you reject it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, we are turning to the Gentiles.For this is what the Lord has commanded us: I have made you a light for the Gentiles to bring salvation to the ends of the earth.”When the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and honored the word of the Lord, and all who had been appointed to eternal life believed.

Therefore produce fruit consistent with repentance. And don’t start saying to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.The ax is already at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”“ What then should we do?” the crowds were asking him.He replied to them,“ The one who has two shirts must share with someone who has none, and the one who has food must do the same.”Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they asked him,“ Teacher, what should we do?”He told them,“ Don’t collect any more than what you have been authorized.”Some soldiers also questioned him,“ What should we do?” He said to them,“ Don’t take money from anyone by force or false accusation, and be satisfied with your wages.”

and when he found him he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught large numbers. The disciples were first called Christians at Antioch.In those days some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.One of them, named Agabus, stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine throughout the Roman world. This took place during the reign of Claudius.Each of the disciples, according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brothers and sisters who lived in Judea.They did this, sending it to the elders by means of Barnabas and Saul.
