掃羅卻殘害教會，挨家挨戶地進去，拉着男女關在監裏。

凡聽見的人都很驚奇，說：「在耶路撒冷殘害求告這名的不就是這個人嗎？他不是到這裏來要捆綁他們，帶到祭司長那裏去嗎？」

亞拿尼亞回答：「主啊，我聽見許多人講到這個人，說他怎樣在耶路撒冷多多苦待你的聖徒，並且他在這裏有從祭司長得來的權柄，要捆綁一切求告你名的人。」

我也曾迫害信奉這道路的人，置他們於死地，無論男女都捆綁，關在監裏。這是大祭司和議會的眾長老都可以給我作證的。我又從他們那裏領了致弟兄們的書信，往大馬士革去，要把在那裏的信徒綁起來，帶到耶路撒冷受刑。」

掃羅也贊同處死他。從那一天開始，耶路撒冷的教會遭受到大迫害，除了使徒以外，眾門徒都分散在猶太和撒瑪利亞各處。

彼得在眾信徒中到處奔波的時候，也到了住在呂大的聖徒那裏。

我原是使徒中最小的，不配稱為使徒，因為我曾迫害過上帝的教會。

論到世上的聖民，他們是尊貴的人，是我最喜悅的。

奉上帝旨意作基督耶穌使徒的保羅，寫信給在以弗所的眾聖徒，就是在基督耶穌裏忠心的人。

掃羅到了耶路撒冷，想與門徒結交，大家卻都怕他，不信他是門徒。

我就說：『主啊，他們都知道，我從前在各會堂裏把信你的人監禁，又鞭打他們。當你的見證人司提反被害流血的時候，我也站在一旁贊同；又為打死他的人看守衣裳。』

你們聽說過從前我在猶太教中的行徑，我怎樣竭力壓迫殘害上帝的教會。

但如今我要到耶路撒冷去，供應聖徒的需要。因為馬其頓和亞該亞人樂意湊出一些捐款給耶路撒冷聖徒中的窮人。

彼得伸手扶她起來，叫那些聖徒和寡婦都進來，把多加活活地交給他們。

把他推到城外，用石頭打他。作見證的人把他們的衣裳放在一個名叫掃羅的青年腳前。

我又看見那女人喝醉了聖徒的血和為耶穌作見證的人的血。我看見她，非常詫異。

掃羅不斷用威嚇兇悍的口氣向主的門徒說話。他去見大祭司，要求發信給大馬士革的各會堂，若是找着信奉這道的人，無論男女，都准他捆綁帶到耶路撒冷。
