I persecuted this Way even to the point of death, tying up both men and women and putting them in prison,as both the high priest and the whole council of elders can testify about me. From them I also received letters to the brothers in Damascus, and I was on my way to make arrests there and bring the prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished.

And Saul agreed completely with killing him. Now on that day a great persecution began against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were forced to scatter throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria.

Now as Peter was traveling around from place to place, he also came down to the saints who lived in Lydda.

For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

As for God’s chosen people who are in the land, and the leading officials I admired so much–

For you have heard of my former way of life in Judaism, how I was savagely persecuting the church of God and trying to destroy it.

But now I go to Jerusalem to minister to the saints.For Macedonia and Achaia are pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.

He gave her his hand and helped her get up. Then he called the saints and widows and presented her alive.

When they had driven him out of the city, they began to stone him, and the witnesses laid their cloaks at the feet of a young man named Saul.

I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints and the blood of those who testified to Jesus. I was greatly astounded when I saw her.

Meanwhile Saul, still breathing out threats to murder the Lord’s disciples, went to the high priestand requested letters from him to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any who belonged to the Way, either men or women, he could bring them as prisoners to Jerusalem.
