掃羅卻殘害教會，走進各家，拖着男女，送去下監。

凡聽見的都驚奇說：『這個人豈不是那在耶路撒冷殘害呼求這名的麼？他到這裏來，豈不是要捆綁他們，帶到祭司長那裏麼？』

亞拿尼亞回答說：『主啊，我從許多人聽見這個人的事，說他對在耶路撒冷的聖徒行了多麼大的苦害；又在這裏執有從祭司長們得來的權柄，要捆綁一切呼求你名的人。』

我曾經逼迫這道路，直到死地，不但把男人、也把女人、捆鎖送官，下在監裏。大祭司和全長老會也可以給我作見證。從他們、我竟領了文書給在大馬色的弟兄們，遂即前往，要把在那裏的信徒也捆綁，帶到耶路撒冷來受刑。

司提反被殺掉、掃羅也贊同着。就在那一天就起了大逼迫、苦害那在耶路撒冷的教會；使徒以外，眾人都四散在猶太和撒瑪利亞各地區。

彼得走遍各地的時候，也下到住呂大的聖徒那裏。

我，我原是使徒中最小的，不配稱為使徒，因為我曾逼迫了上帝的教會。

論到國內的聖民、他們是高貴者，我所喜悅的是他們。

奉上帝旨意做基督耶穌使徒的保羅、寫信給在以弗所的聖徒，在基督耶穌裏忠信的人。

到了耶路撒冷，掃羅嘗試着要和門徒接近；大家都怕他，不信他是門徒。

我說：「主啊，他們自己知道、我怎樣在各會堂裏監禁鞭打信靠你的人；並且為你捨生的作證人司提反的血迸流的時候，我本人還站在旁邊贊同着，看守殺掉他之人的衣裳呢！」

你們曾聽說我從前在猶太教中的起居為人、怎樣極力逼迫上帝的教會而殘害她，

不過如今我先要往耶路撒冷去、供應聖徒的需要。因為馬其頓和亞該亞樂意湊集一筆團契捐，給在耶路撒冷聖徒中的窮人。

彼得向她伸手，扶她起來；就叫眾聖徒和寡婦進來，把多加活活的交給他們。

給趕出城外，直扔石頭打。見證人把衣裳脫在一個叫掃羅的壯年人腳旁。

我看見那婦人沉醉於聖徒的血，沉醉於為耶穌捨生作證者的血。我看見了她，就大大驚奇。

但是掃羅，仍然向主的門徒噴吐恐嚇和兇殺的口氣。他上去見大祭司，向他求文書給大馬色各會堂，好使他、若找着了甚麼人信奉這道路，無論男女、都可以捆住，帶到耶路撒冷。
