扫罗却残害教会，进各人的家，拉着男女下在监里。

凡听见的人都惊奇，说：“在耶路撒冷残害求告这名的，不是这人吗？并且他到这里来，特要捆绑他们，带到祭司长那里。”

亚拿尼亚回答说：“主啊，我听见许多人说，这人怎样在耶路撒冷多多苦害你的圣徒，并且他在这里有从祭司长得来的权柄捆绑一切求告你名的人。”

我也曾逼迫奉这道的人，直到死地，无论男女都锁拿下监。这是大祭司和众长老都可以给我作见证的。我又领了他们达与弟兄的书信，往大马士革去，要把在那里奉这道的人锁拿，带到耶路撒冷受刑。”

从这日起，耶路撒冷的教会大遭逼迫，除了使徒以外，门徒都分散在犹太和撒玛利亚各处。

彼得周流四方的时候，也到了居住吕大的圣徒那里；

我原是使徒中最小的，不配称为使徒，因为我从前逼迫神的教会。

论到世上的圣民，他们又美又善，是我最喜悦的。

奉神旨意，作基督耶稣使徒的保罗，写信给在以弗所的圣徒，就是在基督耶稣里有忠心的人。

扫罗到了耶路撒冷，想与门徒结交，他们却都怕他，不信他是门徒。

我就说：‘主啊，他们知道我从前把信你的人收在监里，又在各会堂里鞭打他们。并且你的见证人司提反被害流血的时候，我也站在旁边欢喜；又看守害死他之人的衣裳。’

你们听见我从前在犹太教中所行的事，怎样极力逼迫残害神的教会。

但现在，我往耶路撒冷去供给圣徒。因为马其顿和亚该亚人乐意凑出捐项给耶路撒冷圣徒中的穷人。

彼得伸手扶她起来，叫众圣徒和寡妇进去，把多加活活地交给他们。

把他推到城外，用石头打他。作见证的人把衣裳放在一个少年人名叫扫罗的脚前。

我又看见那女人喝醉了圣徒的血和为耶稣作见证之人的血。我看见她，就大大地希奇。

扫罗仍然向主的门徒口吐威吓凶杀的话，去见大祭司，求文书给大马士革的各会堂，若是找着信奉这道的人，无论男女，都准他捆绑带到耶路撒冷。
