掃羅卻摧殘教會，闖進各家各戶，無論男女都拉去關進監獄。

所有聽見的人都十分驚訝，說：「這不就是那個在耶路撒冷殘害了那些求告這名的人嗎？而且他來到這裡，不就是為要捆綁他們，帶到祭司長們那裡嗎？」

阿納尼亞卻回答：「主啊，我聽許多人說過有關這個人在耶路撒冷對你的聖徒們所做的種種惡事。並且，他得到祭司長們的授權來到這裡，要捆綁所有求告你名的人。」

我曾經逼迫這道的信徒置於死地，無論男女都捆綁起來，關進監獄。這是大祭司和全長老議會的人都可以為我做見證的。我還從他們那裡拿到了給同胞們的一些信函往大馬士革去，要把那裡被捆綁的信徒們，帶到耶路撒冷來受刑。

掃羅也贊同殺害司提反。從那一天開始，有大逼迫臨到耶路撒冷的教會。除了使徒以外，他們都分散到猶太和撒馬利亞地區。

有一次，彼得走遍各地的時候，也下到住在利達的聖徒們那裡。

原來我是使徒中最小的，不配被稱為使徒，因為我曾經逼迫神的教會。

至於這地上的聖民，他們都是尊貴的，是我全部的喜樂。

照著神的旨意做基督耶穌使徒的保羅，致住在以弗所的聖徒，就是在基督耶穌裡的信徒們：

掃羅來到耶路撒冷，想要和門徒們交往，可是大家都怕他，不相信他成了門徒。

「我就說：『主啊，他們知道我曾經到各會堂，把信靠你的人關進監獄，還鞭打他們。並且當你的見證人司提反受害流血的時候，我自己也站在旁邊贊同，還為那些殺害他的人看守衣服。』

你們聽說過我以前在猶太教中的行事為人：我曾極力地逼迫神的教會，殘害她。

但如今，我要到耶路撒冷去服事聖徒，因為馬其頓省和亞該亞省的信徒，樂意與耶路撒冷聖徒中的窮人有一些分享。

彼得伸手扶她站起來，又叫聖徒們和寡婦們進來，把活過來的多卡絲交給他們。

把他拉到城外，用石頭砸他。那些見證人把自己的外衣放在一個稱為掃羅的年輕人腳前。

隨後，我看見那女人喝醉了聖徒們的血，以及為耶穌做見證之人的血。我看到她就大大驚奇。

掃羅仍然向主的門徒們口吐凶殺威嚇的話。他來到大祭司面前，求他發一些信函給大馬士革各會堂，准許掃羅如果發現什麼人屬於這道，無論男女，都捆綁起來，帶到耶路撒冷。
