扫罗却在摧毁教会，他挨家挨户搜寻，把男女信徒抓进监里。

听的人都大吃一惊，说：“他不就是那在耶路撒冷迫害信徒的人吗？他到这里来不是要把大马士革的信徒押去见祭司长吗？”

亚拿尼亚回答说：“主啊！我听见许多人说他对耶路撒冷的信徒大加迫害。他来这里是得到祭司长的授权，要拘捕所有求告你名的人。”

我曾经把信奉这道的男女信徒抓进监狱，迫害他们，置他们于死地。大祭司和众长老都可以为我作证。我还拿着他们写给大马士革的犹太人的信去拘捕那里的信徒，押回耶路撒冷受刑。

当时，扫罗也赞成杀死司提凡。从那天起，耶路撒冷的教会开始遭到极大的迫害。除了使徒之外，门徒都分散到犹太和撒玛利亚各地。

彼得四处奔波，来到吕大探访那里的信徒，

在众使徒中我最微不足道，根本不配称为使徒，因为我曾迫害上帝的教会。

世上敬畏你的人极其尊贵，是我所喜爱的。

我是奉上帝旨意做基督耶稣使徒的保罗，写信给以弗所忠于基督耶稣的众圣徒。

扫罗逃到耶路撒冷后，曾设法与当地的门徒联络，可是他们都怕他，不相信他是门徒。

我说，‘主啊！他们都知道我从前搜遍各会堂，逮捕、毒打信你的人。当你的见证人司提凡为你流血殉道时，我自己也站在旁边赞同杀他的人，还替他们保管衣服。’

你们都听说过我信奉犹太教时的所作所为，我怎样残酷地迫害上帝的教会，试图摧毁它。

但现在我要去耶路撒冷服侍当地的圣徒，因为马其顿和亚该亚的教会欣然捐出了财物给耶路撒冷的穷困圣徒。

彼得伸手扶她起来后，叫那些在外面等候的门徒和寡妇进来，把活过来的多加交给他们。

把司提凡拉到城外，用石头打他。指控他的人把他们的衣服交给一个名叫扫罗的青年看管。

我又见她醉了，因她喝了众圣徒的血，就是为耶稣做见证之人的血。我看见她，非常惊奇。

扫罗继续用凶狠的话恐吓主的门徒。他去见大祭司，要取得授权书到大马士革的各会堂搜捕信耶稣的人，无论男女，都要把他们押回耶路撒冷。
