But I found that he had done nothing deserving death. And as he himself appealed to the emperor, I decided to go ahead and send him.

But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews,“ If it were a matter of wrongdoing or vicious crime, O Jews, I would have reason to accept your complaint.

See, my father, see the corner of your robe in my hand. For by the fact that I cut off the corner of your robe and did not kill you, you may know and see that there is no wrong or treason in my hands. I have not sinned against you, though you hunt my life to take it.May the Lord judge between me and you, may the Lord avenge me against you, but my hand shall not be against you.

When the accusers stood up, they brought no charge in his case of such evils as I supposed.Rather they had certain points of dispute with him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who was dead, but whom Paul asserted to be alive.

O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands,if I have repaid my friend with evil or plundered my enemy without cause,let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it, and let him trample my life to the ground and lay my glory in the dust. Selah

And when it was disclosed to me that there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to you at once, ordering his accusers also to state before you what they have against him.”

By examining him yourself you will be able to find out from him about everything of which we accuse him.”
