我回答他们：在被告还没有与原告当面对质，并且对被控罪名还没有获得申辩机会以前，就把被告交出去，这不符合罗马人的规矩。

于是彼拉多出来，到他们那里，说：“你们提出什么来控告这个人？”他们回答说：“这个人如果不是作恶的，我们就不会把他交给你了。”

但是我了解他并没有犯过什么该死的罪，不过他自己既然向皇帝上诉了，我就决定把他解送去。

保罗刚要开口，伽利奥就对犹太人说：“哦，各位犹太人哪！如果这真是什么罪行或邪恶的案情，我理当容忍你们。

我父啊，请看！看看你外袍的衣摆就在我手中！我割下了你外袍的衣摆，却没有杀你。你要知道，也要看见我的手中没有恶行或叛逆。尽管你在猎取我的性命，我却没有得罪你。“愿耶和华在你我之间做判断，愿耶和华在你身上为我施行报应，但我的手绝不敌对你。

那些原告站起来围着他提出来的罪状，并不是我所认为的恶事。不过他们与他有一些争议的问题，是关于自己宗教的事，以及关于一个叫耶稣的人——这个人已经死了，保罗却声称他还活着。

耶和华我的神哪，如果我做了这事，如果我的手中有不义，如果我恶待那与我和好的人，或是无故掠夺我的敌人，就任凭仇敌追赶我，并且追上！任凭他把我的性命踩踏于地，使我的荣耀归入尘土！细拉

后来我被告知将有一个针对这个人的阴谋，就立即把他解送到您那里去，又吩咐原告们到您面前去告他。”

您亲自审问他，就能了解我们控告他的这一切事了。”
