保羅剛要開口，迦流就對猶太人說：「你們這些猶太人！如果這事涉及什麼罪行冤情，我當然會處理。

我父請看，你的這塊袍子在我手中。我割下了你的袍角，沒有殺你，現在你應該明白我並未圖謀背叛你。我沒有對不起你，你卻要置我於死地。願耶和華在你我之間判定是非，替我伸冤，我卻不會動手傷害你。

他們都站起來當面指控他，但所告的並非我料想的罪行，不過是關於他們的宗教和一個叫耶穌的人的一些爭論。耶穌已經死了，保羅卻說他仍然活著。

我的上帝耶和華啊，倘若我犯了罪，手上沾了不義；倘若我恩將仇報，無故搶奪仇敵，就讓仇敵追上我，踐踏我，使我聲名掃地。（細拉）

並命令告他的人到大人這裡來。大人親自審問他，就會知道我們告他的事了。」
