希祿既見耶穌、不勝欣悅。蓋久耳其名、渴欲一見其人、且冀一睹其靈跡、因多方詰之、而耶穌嘿然不答一詞。司祭諸長及經生旁立控之不休、希祿及其侍衛、則鄙而嘲之、披以采服、解回比辣多。希祿與比辣多素來有隙、是日乃言歸於好矣。比辣多乃召集司祭諸長、及有司與民眾而語之曰：『爾解斯人至、以為亂民；顧吾已就爾所控者、當眾審問、未見其罪；即希祿亦未見其罪、爰解之返、足見其實無可死之道、吾將責而釋之。』每屆斯節、例釋一囚。眾齊呼曰：『願去此人、而釋巴拉巴。』巴拉巴者、城中作亂殺人、而下獄者也。比辣多欲釋耶穌、復向眾言之、而眾又呼曰：『釘之十字架！釘之十字架！』比辣多三次謂眾曰：『斯亦異矣！此人曾犯何罪？吾實未見其有可死之道也、是當責而釋之。』眾更呶呶不休、厲聲要求釘之於十字架上。聲勢洶洶、難以理喻。比辣多乃徇其請、

且誓曰：『雖平分國土、吾亦弗吝。』女退詢母將何求、母曰：『施洗者如望之首。』乃返、請於王曰：『願以施洗者如望之首、置盤中見賜。』

彼之所以為此者、祇緣未識聖父、亦未識予。

曰：是不啻謂吾人當種惡因、以求善果、有是理乎？然誣吾儕持此說者、實大有人在；吾知此輩必受審判也。

求我恩主。聽我哀訴。敵人謀我。我心恐怖。群小紛紜。橫行無度。祈主保我。莫為所誣。磨礪其舌。利矣其芒。言如暗箭。中傷賢良。突然而發。得意洋洋。以惡相勸。逞其猖狂。設阱陷人。自誇謀臧。

求行文大馬士革各會堂、遇有此道中人、不論男女、盡縛解耶路撒冷。

其謀為掃羅所覺。若輩晝夜偵伺、伏於邑門、意在必殺。

予初亦以納匝勒人耶穌之名、應多方加以抨擊；此即予在耶路撒冷時之所行也。嘗受權於司祭長、逮捕聖徒多人下獄其定讞處死、予亦與焉；且屢於會堂中加以楚撻、意欲迫其發褻瀆之語；恨之既甚、逐之外邑。
