但非斯都要讨犹太人的喜欢，就回答保罗说：“你愿意上耶路撒冷去，在那里为这些事受我的审判吗？”

他们在那里住了好些日子，非斯都将保罗的案件向王陈述，说：“这里有一个人，是腓力斯留在监里的。

非斯都到省里上任，过了三天，就从凯撒利亚上耶路撒冷去。

他见犹太人喜欢这事，也去拿住彼得。那时候正是除酵节期间。

彼拉多要讨好众人，就释放巴拉巴给他们，把耶稣鞭打后交给人钉十字架。

亚基帕对非斯都说：“这人若没有向凯撒上诉，早就被释放了。”

保罗这样申诉时，非斯都大声说：“保罗，你疯了！你的学问太大，反使你疯了！”保罗说：“非斯都大人，我不是疯了，我说的乃是真实和清醒的话。

惧怕人的，陷入圈套；惟有倚靠耶和华的，必得安稳。

非斯都就回答：“保罗押在凯撒利亚，我自己快要往那里去。”

彼拉多这才照他们的要求定案；又把他们所要求的那因作乱和杀人而下在监里的人释放了，而把耶稣交给他们，随他们的意思处置。

不可附和群众作恶；不可在诉讼中附和群众歪曲公正，作歪曲的见证；

我现在是要得人的心，还是要得神的心呢？难道我在讨人的喜欢吗？我若仍旧想讨人的喜欢，我就不是基督的仆人了。

保罗在自己所租的房子里住了足足两年。凡来见他的人，他都接待，

就说：“等告你的人来到，我才详细听你。”于是他命令把保罗拘留在希律的衙门里。
