Then Agrippa said to Festus,“ This man might have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”

Now as he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice,“ Paul, you are beside yourself! Much learning is driving you mad!”But he said,“ I am not mad, most noble Festus, but speak the words of truth and reason.

The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.

But Festus answered that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself was going there shortly.

So Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested.And he released to them the one they requested, who for rebellion and murder had been thrown into prison; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice.

For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him,

he said,“ I will hear you when your accusers also have come.” And he commanded him to be kept in Herod’s Praetorium.
