但非斯都為要討好猶太人，就問保羅：“你願意去耶路撒冷，讓我在那裡審問這事嗎？”

他們在那裡逗留了許多天，非斯都把保羅的案情向王陳明，說：“這裡有一個囚犯，是腓力斯留下來的。

非斯都到任三天之後，就從該撒利亞去耶路撒冷。

他見這事博得了猶太人的歡心，就在除酵節期間，再次捉拿彼得。

彼拉多有意討好群眾，就釋放了巴拉巴給他們，把耶穌鞭打了，交給他們釘十字架。

亞基帕對非斯都說：“這個人若沒有向凱撒上訴，早就可以釋放了。”

保羅申訴到這裡，非斯都大聲說：“保羅！你瘋了；你的學問太大，使你瘋了！”保羅說：“非斯都大人，我沒有瘋，我說的都是真實的話，清醒的話。

懼怕人的，必陷入網羅；倚靠耶和華的，必得安全。

非斯都回答：“保羅現今押在該撒利亞，我就要回到那裡去。”

彼拉多就宣判，照他們的要求，把他們所求那作亂殺人入獄的釋放了，卻把耶穌交出來，隨他們的意思處理。

不可隨眾行惡，不可在訴訟的事上隨眾說歪曲正義的話；

我現在是要得人的歡心，還是要得神的歡心呢？難道我想討人歡喜嗎？如果我仍然要討人歡喜，就不是基督的僕人了。

保羅在自己所租的房子裡，住了整整兩年。凡來見他的人，他都接待，

就說：“等到原告也來了，我才審問你。”於是吩咐人把他拘留在希律的王府裡。
