非斯都为了讨好犹太人，就对保罗说：“你是否愿意回耶路撒冷接受我的审讯？”

非斯都上任三天后，便从凯撒利亚启程上耶路撒冷。

他见这样做能取悦犹太人，便又在除酵节期间拘捕了彼得，

为了取悦众人，彼拉多释放了巴拉巴，命人将耶稣鞭打后带出去钉十字架。

亚基帕王对非斯都说：“这人要是没有向凯撒上诉，已经可以获释了。”

这时，非斯都打断保罗的申辩，大声说：“保罗，你疯了！一定是你的学问太大，使你神经错乱了！”保罗说：“非斯都大人，我没有疯。我讲的话真实、合理。

惧怕人的必自陷网罗，信靠耶和华的必安稳。

非斯都却拒绝道：“保罗现在关押在凯撒利亚，我很快会回到那里。

于是，彼拉多依照他们的要求，释放了叛乱杀人的囚犯巴拉巴，并把耶稣交给他们任意处置。

不可随众行恶。在法庭作证时不可附和多数人，颠倒是非。

我现在是要赢得人的赞同吗？还是要赢得上帝的赞同？难道我是要讨好人吗？如果我仍旧要讨好人，我就不是基督的奴仆了。

后来，保罗租了一间房子，在那里住了整整两年，接待所有到访的人。

“等告你的人来了，我会审理你的案子。”于是下令把保罗关在希律的王府里。
