And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

How the faithful city has become a harlot! It was full of justice; Righteousness lodged in it, But now murderers.

“ For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery for burnt offering; I will direct their work in truth, And will make with them an everlasting covenant.

Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

Tremble, you women who are at ease; Be troubled, you complacent ones; Strip yourselves, make yourselves bare, And gird sackcloth on your waists.

But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream.

Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.And he brought them out and said,“ Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”So they said,“ Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. Please, obey the voice of the Lord which I speak to you. So it shall be well with you, and your soul shall live.But if you refuse to surrender, this is the word that the Lord has shown me:‘ Now behold, all the women who are left in the king of Judah’s house shall be surrendered to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those women shall say:“ Your close friends have set upon you And prevailed against you; Your feet have sunk in the mire, And they have turned away again.”‘ so they shall surrender all your wives and children to the Chaldeans. You shall not escape from their hand, but shall be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon. And you shall cause this city to be burned with fire.’”Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah,“ Let no one know of these words, and you shall not die.But if the princes hear that I have talked with you, and they come to you and say to you,‘ Declare to us now what you have said to the king, and also what the king said to you; do not hide it from us, and we will not put you to death,’then you shall say to them,‘ I presented my request before the king, that he would not make me return to Jonathan’s house to die there.’”Then all the princes came to Jeremiah and asked him. And he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they stopped speaking with him, for the conversation had not been heard.Now Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison until the day that Jerusalem was taken. And he was there when Jerusalem was taken.

Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.

Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the Lord, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:“ Today, if you will hear His voice,Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,

Do horses run on rocks? Does one plow there with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into gall, And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,

You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe— and tremble!

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said,“ We will hear you again on this matter.”

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.

They have spoken words, Swearing falsely in making a covenant. Thus judgment springs up like hemlock in the furrows of the field.

In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

“ Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord,“ And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

“ Present your case,” says the Lord.“ Bring forth your strong reasons,” says the King of Jacob.

Because John had said to Herod,“ It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”Therefore Herodias held it against him and wanted to kill him, but she could not;for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and he protected him. And when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.Then an opportune day came when Herod on his birthday gave a feast for his nobles, the high officers, and the chief men of Galilee.And when Herodias’ daughter herself came in and danced, and pleased Herod and those who sat with him, the king said to the girl,“ Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you.”He also swore to her,“ Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”So she went out and said to her mother,“ What shall I ask?” And she said,“ The head of John the Baptist!”

For He says:“ In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.

“ Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying,‘ Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you,‘ I do not know you, where you are from,’

In mercy the throne will be established; And One will sit on it in truth, in the tabernacle of David, Judging and seeking justice and hastening righteousness.”

“ Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.“ And at midnight a cry was heard:‘ Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.And the foolish said to the wise,‘ Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’But the wise answered, saying,‘ No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you; break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity.”

I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.

but exhort one another daily, while it is called“ Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.

“ Shall you reign because you enclose yourself in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink, And do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.He judged the cause of the poor and needy; Then it was well. Was not this knowing Me?” says the Lord.“ Yet your eyes and your heart are for nothing but your covetousness, For shedding innocent blood, And practicing oppression and violence.”

“ When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.Then the King will say to those on His right hand,‘ Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’“ Then the righteous will answer Him, saying,‘ Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’And the King will answer and say to them,‘ Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’“ Then He will also say to those on the left hand,‘ Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’“ Then they also will answer Him, saying,‘ Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’Then He will answer them, saying,‘ Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

‘ Thus says the Lord GOD:“ Enough, O princes of Israel! Remove violence and plundering, execute justice and righteousness, and stop dispossessing My people,” says the Lord GOD.

And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, Some to everlasting life, Some to shame and everlasting contempt.

then Zedekiah the king sent and took him out. The king asked him secretly in his house, and said,“ Is there any word from the Lord?” And Jeremiah said,“ There is.” Then he said,“ You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon!”Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah,“ What offense have I committed against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying,‘ The king of Babylon will not come against you or against this land’?Therefore please hear now, O my Lord the king. Please, let my petition be accepted before you, and do not make me return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah to the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread from the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.

It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, For a throne is established by righteousness.

He will judge Your people with righteousness, And Your poor with justice.

And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said,“ I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.”)

For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.

in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

Our God shall come, and shall not keep silent; A fire shall devour before Him, And it shall be very tempestuous all around Him.He shall call to the heavens from above, And to the earth, that He may judge His people:

Thus says the Lord:“ Execute judgment and righteousness, and deliver the plundered out of the hand of the oppressor. Do no wrong and do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.

My flesh trembles for fear of You, And I am afraid of Your judgments.

So all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered at Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month; and all the people sat in the open square of the house of God, trembling because of this matter and because of heavy rain.

But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

Woe to you, O land, when your king is a child, And your princes feast in the morning!Blessed are you, O land, when your king is the son of nobles, And your princes feast at the proper time— For strength and not for drunkenness!

That very night Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain.

Do you indeed speak righteousness, you silent ones? Do you judge uprightly, you sons of men?No, in heart you work wickedness; You weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.

Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke,I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes,When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.“ Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord,They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke.Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies.For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them;

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

So it was, when Ahab heard those words, that he tore his clothes and put sackcloth on his body, and fasted and lay in sackcloth, and went about mourning.

Now therefore, let us make a covenant with our God to put away all these wives and those who have been born to them, according to the advice of my master and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods.How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked? SelahDefend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy.Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked.

Now therefore, stand still, that I may reason with you before the Lord concerning all the righteous acts of the Lord which He did to you and your fathers:

But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business.

Belshazzar the king made a great feast for a thousand of his lords, and drank wine in the presence of the thousand.While he tasted the wine, Belshazzar gave the command to bring the gold and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple which had been in Jerusalem, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them.Then they brought the gold vessels that had been taken from the temple of the house of God which had been in Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them.They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and stone.

For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,” Says the Lord.“ But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.

So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.

The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spoke to me:‘ He who rules over men must be just, Ruling in the fear of God.

The Lord reigns; Let the peoples tremble! He dwells between the cherubim; Let the earth be moved!

And although he wanted to put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.But when Herod’s birthday was celebrated, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod.Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask.So she, having been prompted by her mother, said,“ Give me John the Baptist’s head here on a platter.”And the king was sorry; nevertheless, because of the oaths and because of those who sat with him, he commanded it to be given to her.So he sent and had John beheaded in prison.

Do not give your strength to women, Nor your ways to that which destroys kings.It is not for kings, O Lemuel, It is not for kings to drink wine, Nor for princes intoxicating drink;Lest they drink and forget the law, And pervert the justice of all the afflicted.

because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become a desolation and a curse, and you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I also have heard you,” says the Lord.

In the day of our king Princes have made him sick, inflamed with wine; He stretched out his hand with scoffers.

“ Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying:‘ This people says,“ The time has not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built.”’”

For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.

Moreover I saw under the sun: In the place of judgment, Wickedness was there; And in the place of righteousness, Iniquity was there.I said in my heart,“ God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, For there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.”

“ Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord,“ Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.

But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all.And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; and so, falling down on his face, he will worship God and report that God is truly among you.

Give no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids.Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, And like a bird from the hand of the fowler.

So the king of Israel said,“ Take Micaiah, and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son;and say,‘ Thus says the king:“ Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I come in peace.”’”

But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came there also and stirred up the crowds.

For a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, And for strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.But they also have erred through wine, And through intoxicating drink are out of the way; The priest and the prophet have erred through intoxicating drink, They are swallowed up by wine, They are out of the way through intoxicating drink; They err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

When I heard, my body trembled; My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness entered my bones; And I trembled in myself, That I might rest in the day of trouble. When he comes up to the people, He will invade them with his troops.

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Come now, you who say,“ Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”;whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; My justice was like a robe and a turban.

You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth; Walk in the ways of your heart, And in the sight of your eyes; But know that for all these God will bring you into judgment.

So he, trembling and astonished, said,“ Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him,“ Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

Then Agrippa said to Paul,“ You almost persuade me to become a Christian.”

If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent perversion of justice and righteousness in a province, do not marvel at the matter; for high official watches over high official, and higher officials are over them.

Meanwhile he also hoped that money would be given him by Paul, that he might release him. Therefore he sent for him more often and conversed with him.
