眾大譟、屬法利賽教之經士、起而爭辯曰、我儕見此人無惡、若有鬼魂或天使與之言、我儕不可敵天主、

於是大聲噪聒、有法利塞黨之經生數人、起而辯曰：『吾儕未見是人有何罪惡；安知無神靈或天神曾與之語耶？』

There was a great uproar, and some of the teachers of the law who were Pharisees stood up and argued vigorously.“ We find nothing wrong with this man,” they said.“ What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

So there was a great uproar. Some of the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees jumped up and began to argue forcefully.“ We see nothing wrong with him,” they shouted.“ Perhaps a spirit or an angel spoke to him.”

The shouting grew loud, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ party got up and argued vehemently,“ We find nothing evil in this man. What if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

And a great uproar occurred; and some of the scribes of the Pharisaic party stood up and started arguing heatedly, saying,“ We find nothing wrong with this man; suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”

Then there arose a loud outcry. And the scribes of the Pharisees’ party arose and protested, saying,“ We find no evil in this man; but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.”

And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.

The people therefore, that stood by, and heard[ it], said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.

And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.

But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.

And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let[ him] go.

But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined[ him] before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.

Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as[ he did] unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Then said Pilate to the chief priests and[ to] the people, I find no fault in this man.

For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.

But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

And he said to David, Thou[ art] more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?[ it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks.And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee;Delivering thee from the people, and[ from] the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,To open their eyes,[ and] to turn[ them] from darkness to light, and[ from] the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
