你們心裏若懷着惡毒的嫉妒和自私，就不可自誇，不可說謊話抵擋真理。這樣的智慧不是從上頭下來的，而是屬地上的，屬情慾的，屬鬼魔的。在何處有嫉妒、自私，在何處就有動亂和各樣的壞事。惟獨從上頭來的智慧，先是清潔，後是和平、溫良、柔順，滿有憐憫和美善的果子，沒有偏私，沒有虛偽。正義的果實是為促進和平的人用和平栽種出來的。你們中間的衝突是哪裏來的？爭執是哪裏來的？不是從你們肢體中交戰着的私慾來的嗎？你們貪戀，得不着就殺人；你們嫉妒，不能得手就起爭執和衝突；你們得不着，是因為你們不求。

我親愛的弟兄們，你們要明白：你們每一個人要快快地聽，慢慢地說，慢慢地動怒，

「你們忘記上帝的，要思想這事，免得我把你們撕碎，無人搭救。

你們吃我百姓的肉，剝他們的皮，打斷他們的骨頭，如切塊下鍋，如釜中的肉。

這個人被猶太人拿住，快被殺害時，我得知他是羅馬人，就帶士兵下去，把他救了出來。

眾人聽見，就怒氣沖沖，喊着說：「大哉，以弗所人的亞底米！」於是滿城都騷動起來。眾人抓住與保羅同行的馬其頓人該猶和亞里達古，齊心衝進劇場。保羅想要進到民眾那裏，門徒卻不許他去。連亞細亞的幾位官員，是保羅的朋友，也打發人來勸他不要冒險到劇場裏去。

免得他們像獅子撕裂我，甚至撕碎，無人搭救。

保羅的外甥聽見他們設下埋伏，就來到營樓裏告訴保羅。

於是全城都騷動，百姓一齊跑來，拿住保羅，拉他出聖殿，殿門立刻都關了。他們正想要殺他，有人報信給營裏的千夫長，說耶路撒冷全城都亂了。千夫長立刻帶着士兵和幾個百夫長，跑下去到他們那裏。他們見了千夫長和士兵，就停下來不打保羅。於是千夫長上前拿住他，吩咐用兩條鐵鏈捆鎖，又問他是甚麼人，做了甚麼事。羣眾中有的喊這個，有的喊那個；因為這樣亂嚷，千夫長無法知道實情，就下令將保羅帶進營樓去。保羅一走上臺階，羣眾擠得兇猛，士兵只得將保羅抬起來。一羣人跟在後面，喊着：「除掉他！」
