你們若存着苦毒的妒忌和營私爭勝在心裏，別自己誇勝、作假事以敵真理了。這樣的智慧不是從上頭下來的，是屬地上、屬血氣、屬鬼魔的。哪裏有妒忌和營私爭勝，哪裏就有擾亂和各樣的壞事。惟獨從上頭來的智慧、第一是清潔，其次是和平、溫良、柔順，滿有憐恤和美善果子的，不含糊兩可、不假模假樣。並且正義之果子也是在和平中撒種、給締造和平的人收成的。你們中間爭戰從哪兒來，鬥毆從哪兒來呢？豈不是從那在你們肢體中交戰的宴樂慾而來的麼？你們貪慾而無所有，你們就殺人；你們切求而不能得，你們就鬥毆爭戰。你們得不着，因為你們不求。

我親愛的弟兄們，你們要明白。各人要敏於聽，不要急於說，不要急於發怒。

所以你們把上帝忘了的、要思想這事，免得我把你們撕碎，而沒有援救的。

你們這些喫我人民的肉、剝去他們的皮、打折他們的骨頭，切開像肉塊在鍋裏，像肉在釜中的。

這個人被猶太人捉拿了，剛要被他們殺掉時，我聽說他是羅馬人，就帶兵到場，救拔出來。

第二天讓馬兵同他往前走，他們就回營樓來了。

他們聽見，就滿心暴怒，喊着說：『偉大呀，以弗所人的亞底米！』那城裏滿了紛亂；他們就抓住保羅的旅伴、馬其頓人該猶和亞里達古，同心合意齊心地衝進戲園。保羅有意思要進去到民眾中間，門徒卻不容許他。還有幾個亞西亞長、是跟保羅做朋友的、也打發人來見他，勸他不要自己投入戲園。

恐怕他們像獅子撕裂我，甚至撕碎，也無人搶救。

保羅的外甥聽見了這埋伏的事，就來，進了營樓，報告保羅。

全城都搖動了，民眾一齊跑來，拉住保羅，拖他出殿，所有的門立刻關起來。他們正想法子要殺他的時候，就有話傳上去、到營部的千夫長那裏，說全耶路撒冷都紛亂了。千夫長登時帶兵和幾個百夫長，跑下去到他們那裏。他們看見千夫長和士兵，就停止不擊打保羅。於是千夫長走近前去，拉住他，發命令用兩條鐵鍊捆綁着；查問是甚麼人，作了甚麼事。羣眾中有的喊叫這個，有的喊叫那個。既因鬧亂而不能知道確實的情形，千夫長就發命令將保羅帶進營樓。到了臺階上，因羣眾擁擠的猛力，保羅就被士兵擁了上去。那一羣民眾跟在後面，喊着說：『除掉他！』
