你們心裏若懷着苦毒的嫉妒和紛爭，就不可自誇，也不可說謊話抵擋真道。這樣的智慧不是從上頭來的，乃是屬地的，屬情慾的，屬鬼魔的。在何處有嫉妒、紛爭，就在何處有擾亂和各樣的壞事。惟獨從上頭來的智慧，先是清潔，後是和平，溫良柔順，滿有憐憫，多結善果，沒有偏見，沒有假冒。並且使人和平的，是用和平所栽種的義果。你們中間的爭戰鬥毆是從哪裏來的呢？不是從你們百體中戰鬥之私慾來的嗎？你們貪戀，還是得不着；你們殺害嫉妒，又鬥毆爭戰，也不能得。你們得不着，是因為你們不求。

我親愛的弟兄們，這是你們所知道的。但你們各人要快快地聽，慢慢地說，慢慢地動怒，

你們忘記神的，要思想這事，免得我把你們撕碎，無人搭救。

吃我民的肉，剝他們的皮，打折他們的骨頭，分成塊子像要下鍋，又像釜中的肉。

恐怕他們像獅子撕裂我，甚至撕碎，無人搭救。

保羅的外甥聽見他們設下埋伏，就來到營樓裏告訴保羅。

合城都震動，百姓一齊跑來，拿住保羅，拉他出殿，殿門立刻都關了。他們正想要殺他，有人報信給營裏的千夫長說：「耶路撒冷合城都亂了。」千夫長立時帶着兵丁和幾個百夫長，跑下去到他們那裏。他們見了千夫長和兵丁，就止住不打保羅。於是千夫長上前拿住他，吩咐用兩條鐵鍊捆鎖；又問他是甚麼人，做的是甚麼事。眾人有喊叫這個的，有喊叫那個的；千夫長因為這樣亂嚷，得不着實情，就吩咐人將保羅帶進營樓去。到了臺階上，眾人擠得兇猛，兵丁只得將保羅擡起來。眾人跟在後面，喊着說：「除掉他！」
