亞伯蘭說：「主耶和華啊，你要賜給我什麼呢？我一直沒有孩子，我家業的繼承人是大馬士革人以利以謝。」

「那時我得到祭司長們的授權和委任往大馬士革去。王啊，約在正午，我在路上的時候，看見一道光，比太陽更明亮，從天上四面照射我和與我同行的人。我們都仆倒在地。我聽見有聲音用希伯來語對我說：『掃羅，掃羅！你為什麼逼迫我？你腳踢刺棒，是狂妄的。』「我問：『主啊，你到底是誰？』「主說：『我就是你所逼迫的耶穌。你起來，用你的兩腳站好！要知道，我向你顯現是為這樣一個目的：預先指定你做僕人和見證人，就是為你所看見的事，以及我將要顯明給你的事做見證人。我要從以色列子民和外邦人當中把你救出來。我差派你到他們那裡去，為了開啟他們的眼睛，使他們從黑暗歸向光明，從撒旦的權勢下歸向神，使他們因著信我，罪得赦免，並且與那些被分別為聖的人同得繼業。』

他和他的僕人們在夜間兵分幾路，擊敗敵人，又追趕他們，直到大馬士革北面的赫巴。

在他們面前，耶穌變了形像，臉面光耀如日，衣服潔白如光。

當掃羅趕路，快到大馬士革的時候，忽然有光從天上下來，四面照射他。他仆倒在地上，聽見有聲音對他說：「掃羅，掃羅！你為什麼逼迫我？」他問：「主啊，你到底是誰？」主說：「我就是你所逼迫的耶穌。你起來，進城去！有人會告訴你應該做什麼。」與掃羅同行的人都站著，啞口無言，他們雖然聽見聲音，卻看不見任何人。掃羅從地上爬起來，睜開眼睛，卻什麼也看不見。他們牽著他的手，把他帶進大馬士革。

大衛在大馬士革的亞蘭地設立駐軍，這樣亞蘭就臣服於大衛，向他進貢。大衛無論往哪裡去，耶和華都使他得勝。

那時，月亮抱愧，太陽蒙羞，因為萬軍之耶和華必在錫安山、在耶路撒冷作王，並在他的長老們面前顯出榮耀。

在他的右手中拿著七顆星；從他口中發出一把雙刃的利劍；他的面容好像烈日發光。
