亚伯兰说：“主耶和华啊，我一向都没有孩子，你还能赐给我什么呢？这样，承受我家业的，就是大马士革人以利以谢了。”

“那时候，我得到祭司长的授权和准许，去大马士革。王啊，就在中午的时候，我在路上看见一道光，比太阳更明亮，从天上四面照着我和同行的人。我们都仆倒在地上，我听见有声音用希伯来话对我说：‘扫罗！扫罗！你为什么迫害我？你要踢刺棒是难的。’我说：‘主啊，你是谁？’主说：‘我就是你所迫害的耶稣。你起来，站着，我向你显现，是要指派你为我工作。你要为你所见过的事，和我将要向你显明的事作见证。我要救你脱离这人民和外族人，差遣你到他们那里去，开他们的眼睛，使他们从黑暗中归向光明，从撒但的权下归向神，使他们的罪恶得到赦免，并且在那些因信我而成圣的人中同得基业。’

亚伯兰和他的仆人趁夜分队攻击他们，结果击败了他们，又追赶他们直到大马士革北面的何把，

耶稣在他们面前改变了形象，脸好像太阳一样照耀，衣服洁白像光。

他快到大马士革的时候，忽然有光从天上向他四面照射。他仆倒在地，听见有声音对他说：“扫罗，扫罗！你为什么迫害我？”他说：“主啊，你是谁？”主说：“我就是你所迫害的耶稣。起来，进城去！你应当作的事，一定有人告诉你。”同行的人，听见声音，却看不见人，只是目瞪口呆地站在那里。扫罗从地上爬起来，睁开眼睛，却什么也看不见。他们牵着他的手，领他进大马士革。

于是大卫在大马士革的亚兰地驻军。这样亚兰人就臣服大卫，给他进贡。大卫无论到什么地方去，耶和华都使他得胜。

那时，月亮必蒙羞，日头要惭愧，因为万军之耶和华必在锡安山，在耶路撒冷作王；并且在他子民的众长老面前，大有荣耀。

他的右手拿着七星，有一把两刃的利剑从他口中吐出来；他的脸发光好像正午的烈日。
