as the high priest and all the Council can themselves testify. I even obtained letters from them to their associates in Damascus, and went there to bring these people as prisoners to Jerusalem to be punished.

一到天亮，民间的长老议会，包括祭司长们和经文士们，就聚集在一起。他们把耶稣带到议会里，

扫罗仍然向主的门徒们口吐凶杀威吓的话。他来到大祭司面前，求他发一些信函给大马士革各会堂，准许扫罗如果发现什么人属于这道，无论男女，都捆绑起来，带到耶路撒冷。

他们听从这话，在清晨的时候就进入圣殿教导人。这时，大祭司和与他在一起的人来了，他们召集了议会，就是以色列子民长老的全体议会，然后派人到监狱里，要把使徒们带来。

不要忽视在你里面的恩赐；这恩赐是藉着预言，随着长老们的按手赐给你的。

“各位兄弟，亚伯拉罕家的子孙和你们中间敬畏神的人哪，这救恩的福音是赐给我们的。

到了第二天，犹太人的首领、长老和经文士们都聚集在耶路撒冷。

他们对保罗说：“我们没有收到从犹太来的有关你的文件。来到这里的同胞中，也没有人报告过或说过任何有关你的坏事。

为了我的同胞，我的骨肉之亲，就算我自己被诅咒、与基督分离，我也愿意。他们是以色列人：儿子的名份、荣耀、诸约、所赐的律法、礼仪、各样应许，都是他们的；

并且，他得到祭司长们的授权来到这里，要捆绑所有求告你名的人。”

我在耶路撒冷也是这样做的。我不但从祭司长们得了权柄把许多圣徒关进监狱，而且当他们被杀的时候，我也投了一票。

“那时我得到祭司长们的授权和委任往大马士革去。

“各位父老兄弟，现在请听我的申辩。”
