巴總聞言、即往見千總曰：『渠乃羅馬人也！將如之何？』千總即來問葆樂曰：『請告予、汝果為羅馬人乎？』葆樂曰：『是。』千總曰：『予所費不貲、始獲羅馬民籍。』葆樂曰：『予則生而為羅馬人也。』於是諸欲拷訊葆樂者、離之去。千總既知葆樂為羅馬人、不勝惴懼、蓋曾以革帶縛之也。翌日、千總欲知猶太人控葆樂者究係何事乃釋其縲絏、召集司祭長及公會中人、挈葆樂下、令立於眾前。

傷痕徧體、乃收之獄、諭獄吏嚴守之。獄吏既受命、置之內監、加以桎梏。
