有婦人得自己的死人復活。又有人忍受嚴刑，不肯苟且得釋放，為要得着更美的復活。

他們正想要殺他，有人報信給營裏的千夫長說：「耶路撒冷合城都亂了。」千夫長立時帶着兵丁和幾個百夫長，跑下去到他們那裏。他們見了千夫長和兵丁，就止住不打保羅。

當下彼拉多將耶穌鞭打了。

這人被猶太人拿住，將要殺害，我得知他是羅馬人，就帶兵丁下去救他出來。

剛用皮條捆上，保羅對旁邊站着的百夫長說：「人是羅馬人，又沒有定罪，你們就鞭打他，有這個例嗎？」百夫長聽見這話，就去見千夫長，告訴他說：「你要做甚麼？這人是羅馬人。」千夫長就來問保羅說：「你告訴我，你是羅馬人嗎？」保羅說：「是。」千夫長說：「我用許多銀子才入了羅馬的民籍。」保羅說：「我生來就是。」於是那些要拷問保羅的人就離開他去了。千夫長既知道他是羅馬人，又因為捆綁了他，也害怕了。

眾人就一同起來攻擊他們。官長吩咐剝了他們的衣裳，用棍打；打了許多棍，便將他們下在監裏，囑咐禁卒嚴緊看守。
