希律將要提他出來的前一夜，彼得被兩條鐵鏈鎖着，睡在兩個士兵當中；門前還有警衛看守。

為這緣故，我請你們來見我當面談話，我原是為以色列人所指望的那位才被這鐵鏈捆綁的。」

於是那些要拷問保羅的人立刻離開他走了。千夫長一知道他是羅馬人，又因為曾捆綁了他，也害怕起來。

大利拉就用新繩子捆綁他，對他說：「參孫，非利士人來捉你了！」當時，埋伏的人在內室等着。參孫掙斷手臂上的繩子，如掙斷一條線一樣。

於是非利士人的領袖拿了七條未乾的新繩子來，交給她，她就用繩子捆綁參孫。

非利士人逮住他，挖了他的眼睛，帶他下到迦薩，用銅鏈鎖住他，叫他在監獄裏推磨。

願主憐憫阿尼色弗一家的人，因為他屢次令我欣慰。他不以我的鐵鏈為恥，

我回覆他們，無論甚麼人，被告還沒有和原告當面對質，沒有機會為所控告的事申辯，就先定他罪的，這不是羅馬人的規矩。

他們說：「我們絕不殺你，只把你捆綁，交在非利士人手中。」於是他們用兩條新繩綁住參孫，把他從以坦巖帶上去。

於是彼拉多出來，到他們那裏，說：「你們告這人是為甚麼事呢？」他們回答他說：「這人若不作惡，我們就不會把他交給你了。」

保羅說：「無論少勸還是多勸，我向上帝所求的，不但你一個人，就是今天所有聽我說話的人都要像我一樣，只是不要有這些鎖鏈。」

我為這福音受苦難，甚至像犯人一樣被捆綁，然而上帝的話沒有被捆綁。

千夫長下令把保羅帶進營樓，叫人用鞭子拷問他，要知道他們向他這樣喧嚷是甚麼緣故。他們剛用皮條把他捆上的時候，保羅對站在旁邊的百夫長說：「一個羅馬人，又未被定罪，你們就鞭打他是合法的嗎？」
