那些準備拷問保羅的士兵立刻退下了。千夫長也害怕起來，因為發現保羅是羅馬公民，他卻下令捆綁了保羅。

於是，大利拉讓人埋伏在內室，她用七根新繩子綁住參孫，然後喊道：「參孫，非利士人來捉你了！」結果，參孫掙斷了手臂上的繩子，就像掙斷一根線一樣。

非利士人的首領便把七根還沒乾的青繩子交給大利拉，她用那些繩子把參孫綁起來。

非利士人拿住他，剜了他的眼睛，把他帶到迦薩，用銅鏈鎖住他，讓他在監牢裡推磨。

願主憐憫阿尼色弗一家人，他常常鼓勵我，不以我被囚禁為恥。

我告訴他們，按照羅馬人的規矩，被告還沒有跟原告對質和自辯之前，不能定他的罪。

他們說：「我們不會殺你，只將你綁起來交給非利士人。」於是，他們用兩根新繩子把參孫捆綁起來帶出岩洞。

彼拉多出來問他們：「你們控告這個人什麼罪？」他們回答說：「如果祂沒有為非作歹，我們也不會把祂送到你這裡來。」

保羅說：「不論話多話少，我求上帝不僅使你，也使今天在座的各位都能像我一樣，只是不要像我這樣帶著鎖鏈。」

我為這福音受苦，甚至像犯人一樣被囚禁，但上帝的道是囚禁不住的。

千夫長下令把保羅押回營房，預備鞭打拷問他，要查出眾人向他咆哮的緣由。他們把保羅綁起來正要鞭打，保羅問旁邊的百夫長：「未經定罪就拷打羅馬公民合法嗎？」
