They have been informed that you teach all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn away from Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children or live according to our customs.

They have been told that you teach Jews to turn away from the Law of Moses. You teach this to the Jews who live among the Gentiles. They think that you teach those Jews not to circumcise their children. They think that you teach them to give up our Jewish ways.

那些勉強你們接受割禮的人只不過是做表面工夫，想討好別人，避免為基督的十字架受迫害。那些接受割禮的人自己也不能遵行律法。他們要你們接受割禮，無非是想藉著你們的肉體誇耀。至於我自己，我絕不誇耀別的，只誇耀我們主耶穌基督的十字架。因為對我來說，世上的一切都已經被釘在十字架上；對這世界來說，我已經被釘在十字架上。受不受割禮根本無關緊要，做一個新造的人才至關重要。

他們高喊：「以色列人快來幫忙！就是這人到處教唆人反對我們的民族、律法和聖殿。他還帶希臘人進聖殿，玷污這聖地。」

我雖然是自由之身，不受任何人支配，但我甘願成為眾人的奴僕，為了要得到更多的人。面對猶太人我就做猶太人，為了要贏得猶太人。面對守律法的人，我這不受律法束縛的人就守律法，為了要贏得守律法的人。面對沒有律法的人，我就像個沒有律法的人，為了要贏得沒有律法的人。其實我並非在上帝的律法之外，我是在基督的律法之下。

三天後，保羅請來當地猶太人的首領，對他們說：「弟兄們，雖然我沒有做過任何對不起同胞或違背祖先規矩的事，卻在耶路撒冷遭囚禁，又被交到羅馬人的手裡。

基督釋放了我們，是要我們得自由。所以，要站穩了，不要再被奴僕的軛轄制。聽著！我保羅鄭重地告訴你們，如果你們接受割禮，基督對你們就毫無益處。我再次警告所有接受割禮的人，他們必須遵守全部的律法。你們若想靠遵行律法而被稱為義人，就與基督隔絕了，並且離開了上帝的恩典。但我們要靠著聖靈，憑信心熱切等候所盼望的義。我們既然已經在基督耶穌裡，受不受割禮根本無關緊要，藉著愛表現出來的信心才至關重要。

你們要接納信心軟弱的弟兄姊妹，不要因為看法不同便彼此批評。有人相信什麼都可以吃，但信心軟弱的人只吃素菜。吃的人不可輕看不吃的人，不吃的人也不可批評吃的人，因為兩者都蒙上帝接納。你是誰，竟然批評別人的僕人？他做得是否合宜，自然有他的主人負責。他必能做得合宜，因為主能使他做得合宜。有人認為這日比那日好，有人認為天天都一樣，各人應該照著自己的信念拿定主意。守日子的人是為主而守，吃的人是為主而吃，因為他感謝上帝；不吃的人是為主不吃，他也同樣感謝上帝。

「所以，我認為不應該為難那些信上帝的外族人。我們只須寫信吩咐他們遠避被偶像玷污之物，不可淫亂，不可吃血和勒死的牲畜。因為自古以來，在各城都有人宣講摩西的律法，每逢安息日，都有人在會堂裡誦讀。」

他們還派人作偽證說：「司提凡常常講侮辱聖地和律法的話。我們聽見他說那個拿撒勒人耶穌要毀壞聖殿，還要摒棄摩西傳給我們的規矩。」

如果蒙召時已經受了割禮，不必消除割禮；如果蒙召時沒有受割禮，也不必去受割禮。受不受割禮都算不得什麼，最要緊的是遵行上帝的誡命。

保羅打算帶提摩太去傳福音。因為當地的猶太人都知道提摩太的父親是希臘人，保羅就給提摩太行了割禮。
