And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure.“ For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.As the Scriptures say,“ They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you.Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.So two good things will result from this ministry of giving— the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.

And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord— and he will repay you!

Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them, and do not hide from relatives who need your help.“ Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.Then when you call, the Lord will answer.‘ Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.“ Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well watered garden, like an ever flowing spring.Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.

Then he turned to his host.“ When you put on a luncheon or a banquet,” he said,“ don’t invite your friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors. For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward.Instead, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.Then at the resurrection of the righteous, God will reward you for inviting those who could not repay you.”

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!

You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.

Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.

So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees.Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.

“ Then the King will say to those on his right,‘ Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’“ Then these righteous ones will reply,‘ Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’“ And the King will say,‘ I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

I never shrank back from telling you what you needed to hear, either publicly or in your homes.

I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness.At the moment I have all I need— and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen.

With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees.

If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.

Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself. Remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies.

for I didn’t shrink from declaring all that God wants you to know.

We who are strong must be considerate of those who are sensitive about things like this. We must not just please ourselves.

But generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity.

And when I was with you and didn’t have enough to live on, I did not become a financial burden to anyone. For the brothers who came from Macedonia brought me all that I needed. I have never been a burden to you, and I never will be.

The only thing I failed to do, which I do in the other churches, was to become a financial burden to you. Please forgive me for this wrong!

But I will continue doing what I have always done. This will undercut those who are looking for an opportunity to boast that their work is just like ours.

Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before.

Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly.Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered.They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor.

Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor! The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble.The Lord protects them and keeps them alive. He gives them prosperity in the land and rescues them from their enemies.The Lord nurses them when they are sick and restores them to health.

If you support others who preach to you, shouldn’t we have an even greater right to be supported? But we have never used this right. We would rather put up with anything than be an obstacle to the Good News about Christ.
