吾今所不能已於言者、則吝以播者、亦吝以收；廣而散者、亦廣而聚也。尤望各自隨意樂助、勿稍存吝嗇或勉強之意。蓋惟以助人為樂者、乃為天主之所樂助耳。且天主全能、必使各種美德暢茂條達於爾等之胸中、俾爾等萬事舉足、無善不俱。經云：『平生疏財、博施濟貧、宜其義德、千秋永存、』此之謂也。夫主既賜爾以種子、供爾以𩝠糧、亦必使爾之種子發榮滋長而為爾激增正義之果實也。蓋爾等既眾德萃身、而發為慷慨之豪舉、吾儕更當將此慷慨、化為眾口誦主之因緣。是則此項善舉不僅補聖徒之不足、抑且使眾心感謝天主、於以增益天主之光榮。

同時亦毋忘樂善助人、斯亦祭也；欲慰悅天心、莫善於此矣。

耶穌復告主人曰：『爾設宴時、毋邀良朋昆弟戚屬富鄰、誠恐若輩還禮、則爾獲報矣。惟宴請貧乏殘廢跛瞽之儔、乃為真福。蓋若輩無以相報、而爾必見報於諸聖復活之日矣。』

病者治之、死者起之、癩者淨之、眾魔祛之。爾既無功而受、亦應無酬而施。

吾主耶穌基督之慷慨、固爾等之所知也。彼乃萬有之主也、顧為爾等之故、甘成貧窮、俾爾等因彼之貧窮、而成富有。

最宜和睦。如有不守本分者、望兄弟加以勸告。鼓勵懦者、扶持弱者、寬裕忍耐、足以有容。

是故爾當奮發精神、一振垂疲之手足、正步而行、庶幾已跛者不致全然脫節、且得健步如常。

至是王將謂右者曰：「爾等見寵於吾父者、自創世以來為爾所備之國、胥來承嗣。蓋曩者我饑、爾則食之、我渴、爾則飲之、我作客、爾則納之、我裸、爾則衣之、我疾、爾則視之、我在獄、爾則來探之也。」善者將曰「主乎、吾何曾見爾飢而食之、渴而飲之？又何曾見爾作客而納之、裸而衣之？更何曾見爾有疾、在獄、而探視之耶？」王將謂之曰：「吾實語爾、爾所施於我兄弟中之至微者、即施之於我身也。」

凡屬有益於爾、未嘗或隱、無論在眾前、或在私宅、諄諄誨爾、知無不言、

顧予所為汲汲者、不在爾之資助、而在為爾廣收慷慨之妙果耳。如今予已綽綽有餘；蓋爾托伊巴弗提所賜多珍、悉已謹領；此不惟使予裕如、即在天主臺前、亦猶一瓣心香、無瑕之牲、焉有不蒙悅納者乎。吾知天主亦必因基督耶穌、按其無窮之蘊藏、日新之光榮饜飫爾之心願也。伏願天主我等父受享光榮、永世靡暨、心焉祝之。

竊者勿可復竊、寧親手操作、以務正業；有餘且可周人之急。

視被囚者、一若己之被囚。視受苦者、一若己之受苦。

蓋天主玄謨、吾已昭示於爾、曾無畏縮。

是故吾人之強於信德者、當為弱者包荒、勿以悅己為事。

前次吾在爾處、雖甚貧乏、亦未曾有累於爾、一惟仰給於來自馬其頓之兄弟。蓋吾在在以相累為戒、過去如此、今後亦當如此。

且爾等所受之寵惠、亦何一不如其他教會乎？有所不如者、其惟吾之不以生計相累乎？吾望爾等勿以此見罪！

顧吾之所以為此、且願守此不渝者、不欲予人以口實、而謂若輩之所誇亦同乎吾儕之所誇耳。

尤須寧靜澹泊、安分守己、躬自操作、悉如吾訓。

慷慨好施。扶弱抑強。福哉斯人。終身無殃。典型常在。萬世流芳。厥心堅固。惟主是怙。雖聞凶音。無有恐怖。惟貞無畏。知敵必潰。平生疏財。積德累累。宜其挺秀。鬱鬱其穗。

他人尚且對爾享此權利、況吾儕乎？然吾儕向未行使此權、而甘受困乏者、蓋不欲在基督福音道上、置任何之障礙也。
