The point is this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously.Each person should do as he has decided in his heart— not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver.And God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work.As it is written: He distributed freely; he gave to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.Now the one who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will also provide and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.You will be enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us.For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

Don’t neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

Kindness to the poor is a loan to the LORD, and he will give a reward to the lender.

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your house, to clothe the naked when you see him, and not to ignore your own flesh and blood?Then your light will appear like the dawn, and your recovery will come quickly. Your righteousness will go before you, and the LORD’s glory will be your rear guard.At that time, when you call, the LORD will answer; when you cry out, he will say,‘ Here I am.’ If you get rid of the yoke among you, the finger-pointing and malicious speaking,and if you offer yourself to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted one, then your light will shine in the darkness, and your night will be like noonday.The LORD will always lead you, satisfy you in a parched land, and strengthen your bones. You will be like a watered garden and like a spring whose water never runs dry.Some of you will rebuild the ancient ruins; you will restore the foundations laid long ago; you will be called the repairer of broken walls, the restorer of streets where people live.

He also said to the one who had invited him,“ When you give a lunch or a dinner, don’t invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors, because they might invite you back, and you would be repaid.On the contrary, when you host a banquet, invite those who are poor, maimed, lame, or blind.And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ: Though he was rich, for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.

And we exhort you, brothers and sisters: warn those who are idle, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

Therefore, strengthen your tired hands and weakened knees,and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated but healed instead.

Then the King will say to those on his right,‘ Come, you who are blessed by my Father; inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.“‘ For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you took me in;I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me; I was in prison and you visited me.’“ Then the righteous will answer him,‘ Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?When did we see you a stranger and take you in, or without clothes and clothe you?When did we see you sick, or in prison, and visit you?’“ And the King will answer them,‘ Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

You know that I did not avoid proclaiming to you anything that was profitable or from teaching you publicly and from house to house.

Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the profit that is increasing to your account.But I have received everything in full, and I have an abundance. I am fully supplied, having received from Epaphroditus what you provided— a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Strengthen the weak hands, steady the shaking knees!

Let the thief no longer steal. Instead, he is to do honest work with his own hands, so that he has something to share with anyone in need.

Remember those in prison, as though you were in prison with them, and the mistreated, as though you yourselves were suffering bodily.

because I did not avoid declaring to you the whole plan of God.

Now we who are strong have an obligation to bear the weaknesses of those without strength, and not to please ourselves.

But a noble person plans noble things; he stands up for noble causes.

When I was present with you and in need, I did not burden anyone, since the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my needs. I have kept myself, and will keep myself, from burdening you in any way.

So in what way are you worse off than the other churches, except that I personally did not burden you? Forgive me for this wrong!

But I will continue to do what I am doing, in order to deny an opportunity to those who want to be regarded as our equals in what they boast about.

to seek to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,

Good will come to the one who lends generously and conducts his business fairly.He will never be shaken. The righteous one will be remembered forever.He will not fear bad news; his heart is confident, trusting in the LORD.His heart is assured; he will not fear. In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.He distributes freely to the poor; his righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted in honor.

Happy is one who is considerate of the poor; the LORD will save him in a day of adversity.The LORD will keep him and preserve him; he will be blessed in the land. You will not give him over to the desire of his enemies.The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed; you will heal him on the bed where he lies.

If others have this right to receive benefits from you, don’t we even more? Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right; instead, we endure everything so that we will not hinder the gospel of Christ.
