長老既至、保羅謂之曰、自我初來亞西亞之日、以至於今、我在爾曹中始終如何、爾曹知之、

既至、葆樂謂之曰：我自初來亞細亞之日、平素如何與爾相處、爾所知也；

When they arrived, he said to them:“ You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia.

And when they had come to him, he said to them:“ You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you,

And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, after what manner I was with you all the time,

And when they came to him, he said to them:“ You know, from the first day I set foot in Asia, how I was with you the whole time—

And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

When they had come to him, he said to them,“ You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I was with you all the time,

This went on for two years, so that all who lived in the province of Asia, both Jews and Greeks, heard the word of the Lord.

While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul went through the inland regions and came to Ephesus. He found some disciples there

When they reached Ephesus, Paul left Priscilla and Aquila behind there, but he himself went into the synagogue and addressed the Jews.

in that our gospel did not come to you merely in words, but in power and in the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction( surely you recall the character we displayed when we came among you to help you).And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, when you received the message with joy that comes from the Holy Spirit, despite great affliction.

For you know yourselves how you must imitate us, because we did not behave without discipline among you,and we did not eat anyone’s food without paying. Instead, in toil and drudgery we worked night and day in order not to burden any of you.It was not because we do not have that right, but to give ourselves as an example for you to imitate.

We do not give anyone an occasion for taking an offense in anything, so that no fault may be found with our ministry.But as God’s servants, we have commended ourselves in every way, with great endurance, in persecutions, in difficulties, in distresses,in beatings, in imprisonments, in riots, in troubles, in sleepless nights, in hunger,by purity, by knowledge, by patience, by benevolence, by the Holy Spirit, by genuine love,by truthful teaching, by the power of God, with weapons of righteousness both for the right hand and for the left,through glory and dishonor, through slander and praise; regarded as impostors, and yet true;as unknown, and yet well- known; as dying and yet– see!– we continue to live; as those who are scourged and yet not executed;as sorrowful, but always rejoicing, as poor, but making many rich, as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians; our heart has been opened wide to you.

You, however, have followed my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance,

For you yourselves know, brothers and sisters, about our coming to you– it has not proven to be purposeless.But although we suffered earlier and were mistreated in Philippi, as you know, we had the courage in our God to declare to you the gospel of God in spite of much opposition.For the appeal we make does not come from error or impurity or with deceit,but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we declare it, not to please people but God, who examines our hearts.For we never appeared with flattering speech, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed– God is our witness–nor to seek glory from people, either from you or from others,although we could have imposed our weight as apostles of Christ; instead we became little children among you. Like a nursing mother caring for her own children,with such affection for you we were happy to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.For you recall, brothers and sisters, our toil and drudgery: By working night and day so as not to impose a burden on any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.You are witnesses, and so is God, as to how holy and righteous and blameless our conduct was toward you who believe.

For our reason for confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with pure motives and sincerity which are from God– not by human wisdom but by the grace of God– we conducted ourselves in the world, and all the more toward you.
