既至、葆樂謂之曰：我自初來亞細亞之日、平素如何與爾相處、爾所知也；

When they arrived, he said to them:“ You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia.

This went on for two years, so that all the residents of Asia, both Jews and Greeks, heard the word of the Lord.

When they reached Ephesus he left them there, but he himself entered the synagogue and debated with the Jews.

because our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with full assurance. You know how we lived among you for your benefit,and you yourselves became imitators of us and of the Lord when, in spite of severe persecution, you welcomed the message with joy from the Holy Spirit.

For you yourselves know how you should imitate us: We were not idle among you;we did not eat anyone’s food free of charge; instead, we labored and toiled, working night and day, so that we would not be a burden to any of you.It is not that we don’t have the right to support, but we did it to make ourselves an example to you so that you would imitate us.

We are not giving anyone an occasion for offense, so that the ministry will not be blamed.Instead, as God’s ministers, we commend ourselves in everything: by great endurance, by afflictions, by hardships, by difficulties,by beatings, by imprisonments, by riots, by labors, by sleepless nights, by times of hunger,by purity, by knowledge, by patience, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love,by the word of truth, by the power of God; through weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left,through glory and dishonor, through slander and good report; regarded as deceivers, yet true;as unknown, yet recognized; as dying, yet see— we live; as being disciplined, yet not killed;as grieving, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet enriching many; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.We have spoken openly to you, Corinthians; our heart has been opened wide.

But you have followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, and endurance,

For you yourselves know, brothers and sisters, that our visit with you was not without result.On the contrary, after we had previously suffered and were treated outrageously in Philippi, as you know, we were emboldened by our God to speak the gospel of God to you in spite of great opposition.For our exhortation didn’t come from error or impurity or an intent to deceive.Instead, just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please people, but rather God, who examines our hearts.For we never used flattering speech, as you know, or had greedy motives— God is our witness—and we didn’t seek glory from people, either from you or from others.Although we could have been a burden as Christ’s apostles, instead we were gentle among you, as a nurse nurtures her own children.We cared so much for you that we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.For you remember our labor and hardship, brothers and sisters. Working night and day so that we would not burden any of you, we preached God’s gospel to you.You are witnesses, and so is God, of how devoutly, righteously, and blamelessly we conducted ourselves with you believers.

Indeed, this is our boast: The testimony of our conscience is that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, with godly sincerity and purity, not by human wisdom but by God’s grace.
