既至、葆樂謂之曰：我自初來亞細亞之日、平素如何與爾相處、爾所知也；

When they arrived, he said to them:“ You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I came into the province of Asia.

giving no occasion of stumbling in anything, that our ministration be not blamed;but in everything commending ourselves, as ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in watchings, in fastings;in pureness, in knowledge, in longsuffering, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in love unfeigned,in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.Our mouth is open unto you, O Corinthians, our heart is enlarged.

For yourselves, brethren, know our entering in unto you, that it hath not been found vain:but having suffered before and been shamefully treated, as ye know, at Philippi, we waxed bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God in much conflict.For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:but even as we have been approved of God to be intrusted with the gospel, so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God who proveth our hearts.For neither at any time were we found using words of flattery, as ye know, nor a cloak of covetousness, God is witness;nor seeking glory of men, neither from you nor from others, when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ.But we were gentle in the midst of you, as when a nurse cherisheth her own children:even so, being affectionately desirous of you, we were well pleased to impart unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were become very dear to us.For ye remember, brethren, our labor and travail: working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and righteously and unblamably we behaved ourselves toward you that believe:

For our glorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we behaved ourselves in the world, and more abundantly to you- ward.
