既為先知、又知天主曾有誓言、將由其苗裔中、按身軀挺生基督、俾坐其位、

大維先知也、自知曾蒙天主許誓、其後裔必有登其寶座者、

But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.

But David was a prophet. He knew that God had made a promise to him. God had promised that he would make someone in David’s family line king after him.

Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne,

But he was a prophet, and he knew God had promised with an oath that one of David’s own descendants would sit on his throne.

Since he was a prophet, he knew that God had sworn an oath to him to seat one of his descendants on his throne.

So because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat one of his descendants on his throne,

Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,

The Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke:“ One of your own descendants I will place on your throne.If your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever.”For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying,“ This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food.I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.“ Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one.I will clothe his enemies with shame, but his head will be adorned with a radiant crown.” (niv)

and have done ever since the time I appointed leaders over my people Israel. I will also give you rest from all your enemies.“‘ The Lord declares to you that the Lord himself will establish a house for you:When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands.But my love will never be taken away from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from before you.Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.’” (niv)

For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (niv)

You said,“ I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant,‘ I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations.’” (niv)

“ The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was on my tongue. (niv)

and said,“ Brothers and sisters, the Scripture had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus. (niv)

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, (niv)

Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. (niv)

He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David( as he said through his holy prophets of long ago), (niv)

Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful people you said:“ I have bestowed strength on a warrior; I have raised up a young man from among the people.I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him.My hand will sustain him; surely my arm will strengthen him.The enemy will not get the better of him; the wicked will not oppress him.I will crush his foes before him and strike down his adversaries.My faithful love will be with him, and through my name his horn will be exalted.I will set his hand over the sea, his right hand over the rivers.He will call out to me,‘ You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.’And I will appoint him to be my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth.I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail.I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.“ If his sons forsake my law and do not follow my statutes,if they violate my decrees and fail to keep my commands,I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging;but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered.Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness— and I will not lie to David—that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun;it will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.” (niv)

When your days are over and you go to be with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.He is the one who will build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor.I will set him over my house and my kingdom forever; his throne will be established forever.’”Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation. So, as the Holy Spirit says:“ Today, if you hear his voice, (niv)

You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” (niv)

God again set a certain day, calling it“ Today.” This he did when a long time later he spoke through David, as in the passage already quoted:“ Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” (niv)

Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness.May he judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice.May the mountains bring prosperity to the people, the hills the fruit of righteousness.May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; may he crush the oppressor.May he endure as long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations.May he be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth.In his days may the righteous flourish and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.May he rule from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.May the desert tribes bow before him and his enemies lick the dust.May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores bring tribute to him. May the kings of Sheba and Seba present him gifts.May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him.For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death.He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.Long may he live! May gold from Sheba be given him. May people ever pray for him and bless him all day long.May grain abound throughout the land; on the tops of the hills may it sway. May the crops flourish like Lebanon and thrive like the grass of the field.May his name endure forever; may it continue as long as the sun. Then all nations will be blessed through him, and they will call him blessed.Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. But the angel said to them,“ Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. (niv)

but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him:“ The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind:‘ You are a priest forever.’” (niv)

Jesus said,“ My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”“ You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered,“ You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” (niv)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. (niv)

The Lord says to my lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying,“ Rule in the midst of your enemies!”Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, your young men will come to you like dew from the morning’s womb.The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind:“ You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath. (niv)

This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him,and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means“ king of righteousness”; then also,“ king of Salem” means“ king of peace.” (niv)

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (niv)

“ But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” (niv)

On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords. (niv)

David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared:“‘ The Lord said to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”’ (niv)

He said to them,“ This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” (niv)

“‘ The days are coming,’ declares the Lord,‘ when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah.“‘ In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. (niv)

“ In that day I will restore David’s fallen shelter— I will repair its broken walls and restore its ruins— and will rebuild it as it used to be,so that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear my name,” declares the Lord, who will do these things. (niv)

“ The days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior. (niv)

“ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me,“ You are my son; today I have become your father.Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. (niv)

regarding his Son, who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David, (niv)

He said to them,“ How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him‘ Lord’? For he says, (niv)

And again, Isaiah says,“ The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; in him the Gentiles will hope.” (niv)

They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings— and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.” (niv)

When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. (niv)
