And tongues spreading out like a fire appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them.

遂見有歧舌如火、止於各人、

遂見火焰如舌、歧而止各人上、

遂見有分歧之舌、其狀如火、而止於各人上、

復見火光𦧡𦧡如舌、分降人頂；

They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.

They saw something that looked like fire in the shape of tongues. The flames separated and came to rest on each of them.

And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.

Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.

They saw tongues like flames of fire that separated and rested on each one of them.

And tongues that looked like fire appeared to them, distributing themselves, and a tongue rested on each one of them.

Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

And there appeared unto them tongues parting asunder, like as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them.

And tongues, like flames of fire that were divided, appeared to them and rested on each one of them.

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them.

“ I baptize you with water, for repentance, but the one coming after me is more powerful than I am– I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

My message is like a fire that purges dross! It is like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces! I, the LORD, so affirm it!

Then John testified,“ I saw the Spirit descending like a dove from heaven, and it remained on him.And I did not recognize him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water said to me,‘ The one on whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining– this is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

They said to each other,“ Didn’t our hearts burn within us while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining the scriptures to us?”

And the LORD said,“ If as one people all sharing a common language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be beyond them.

both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs– we hear them speaking in our own languages about the great deeds God has done!”

The LORD’s spirit will rest on him– a spirit that gives extraordinary wisdom, a spirit that provides the ability to execute plans, a spirit that produces absolute loyalty to the LORD.He will take delight in obeying the LORD. He will not judge by mere appearances, or make decisions on the basis of hearsay.

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.

So Jesus replied to him,“ Let it happen now, for it is right for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John yielded to him.

Who can endure the day of his coming? Who can keep standing when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire, like a launderer’s soap.He will act like a refiner and purifier of silver and will cleanse the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then they will offer the LORD a proper offering.

Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, and he had an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth– to every nation, tribe, language, and people.

And the tongue is a fire! The tongue represents the world of wrongdoing among the parts of our bodies. It pollutes the entire body and sets fire to the course of human existence– and is set on fire by hell.

Confuse them, O Lord! Frustrate their plans! For I see violence and conflict in the city.

I said,“ Too bad for me! I am destroyed, for my lips are contaminated by sin, and I live among people whose lips are contaminated by sin. My eyes have seen the king, the LORD who commands armies.”

And I will grant my two witnesses authority to prophesy for 1,260 days, dressed in sackcloth.

In those days Peter stood up among the believers( a gathering of about one hundred and twenty people) and said,

to another performance of miracles, to another prophecy, and to another discernment of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.
